Story: Kabuto's origins largely remains a mystery, but his background in Konoha was explained by Mitarashi Anko. He was raised by a Jônin member of the Konoha Medical Unit Squad, who found him at the battle of Kikyô Pass when he was still a little boy. He was the only survivor of the battle and was found lying with the bodies of the enemy all around him. At some point, he was recruited by the Akatsuki member Sasori (now deceased) and sent to spy on Orochimaru. Orochimaru freed him from Sasori's hypnosis, and has since made Kabuto his right hand man. This is mainly because of Kabuto's unique ability to reactivate dead cells and grow new ones.Orochimaru had Kabuto play an untalented ninja within Konohagakure, with Kabuto continuously failing the Chûnin exams in order to gain information on ninja from every hidden village that participated. Uchiha Sasuke was of particular interest because of Orochimaru's ambitions in regards to him. He was partnered with Akadô Yoroi and Tsurugi Misumi, who were also spies for Orochimaru.
Although officially a Genin-level ninja (now a missing-nin), Orochimaru rates Kabuto as being capable of matching even Hatake Kakashi in battle. During his fight with Tsunade, she commented that Kabuto's sense of jutsu and sharpness surpassed her own, even in her prime. She also comments that there's more to him than meets the eye.

Powers: Gaara has the ability to manipulate sand. Because of Shukaku, the sand also protects him from harm automatically, regardless of using Suna no Tate (Shield of Sand). This basically makes Gaara almost unable to use Taijutsu. Gaara almost always carries a gourd on his back. However, instead of water being carried in it, the gourd contains an abundant amount of sand soaked in the blood of those he killed and is further enhanced with chakra. Although Gaara can control any sand, and can even make sand himself using the minerals in the ground, he can control the sand in his gourd best. With this sand, not only does Gaara always have his own sand supply, his attacks also increase in both speed and power.
Gaara's jutsu are all sand-based and, although most are simple offensive and defensive jutsu, can be used for a variety of purposes, including floating in the air (Sabaku Fuy¨± (Desert Suspension)) and spying (Daisan no Me (Third Eye)). While fighting, Gaara often uses a combination of Sabaku Ky¨± (The Coffin of Crushing Sand) followed by Sabaku S¨_s¨_ (Imploding Sand Funeral). Although most of his attacks are small-scale, Gaara can wreak havoc with his Ry¨±sa Bakury¨± (Quicksand in the Style of a Waterfall).
Gaara's main defense is his Suna no Tate (Shield of Sand). This shield protects Gaara from all harm, even against his will, but can still be defeated with great enough speed and strength (as demonstrated first by Rock Lee and eventually Uchiha Sasuke). If his Suna no Tate fails, Gaara still has his Suna no Yoroi (Armour of Sand). This is a layer of highly compacted sand, wrapped around Gaara's body. Although it gives Gaara an almost ultimate defense, it takes a large toll on Gaara's chakra and his stamina. Because of this, Gaara can use the Sphere of Sand instead for absolute defense, provinding a stronger defense that costs less chakra, yet confines Gaara to the location of the sphere.

Story: Gaara is the youngest son of the Fourth Kazekage, thus having Temari and Kankur¨_ as his older siblings. Because of Sunagakure¡¯s weakened state, the Fourth Kazekage ordered one of Suna¡¯s elders, Chiyo, to use a possession jutsu to seal the Ichibi Shukaku into Gaara, in hopes of making his son into the ultimate weapon against outside attacks on the village. Because of this possession, Gaara¡¯s mother, Karura, died while giving birth. Before she died, Karura cursed Sunagakure, hoping Gaara would avenge her death.
Gaara was trained by his father, but raised mainly by his uncle Yashamaru. For six years, Gaara was feared by his family and the other villagers and believed that Yashamaru was the only one who loved him. However, when Gaara was six years old, Gaara's father the Kazekage ordered Yashamaru to assassinate him. Gaara had become, in the Kazekage's eyes, a failed experiment and too much of a threat to the other villagers to be allowed to live. Gaara mortally wounded the assassin before he knew the assassin was in fact Yashamaru. Before he died, Yashamaru revealed to Gaara that he never did love him. In fact, despite trying to love him, Yashamaru always resented Gaara for taking away the life of his beloved sister and Gaara's mother, Karura. Yashamaru also revealed the source of Gaara's name: ÎÒ¤òÛ¤¹¤ëÐÞÁ_, (Ware wo ai suru shura, "a self-loving carnage"😉. Gaara's mother had resented the village for using her and her son as a sacrifice for a weapon, and cursed Gaara for putting her in so much pain. After realizing that nobody loved him, Gaara used his sand to create the tattoo on his forehead, Û (ai, "love"😉, as a symbol of a "demon loving only himself." For the next six years, Gaara would be the victim of almost constant assassination attempts, all ordered by his father.
Gaara, like Naruto, is a jinch¨±riki, or the (unwilling) host of a bij¨±. His entire village hated and feared him for the awful power of the spirit sealed within his body; his own father, before later realizing that Gaara could be an effective tool, wanted him dead. As a result, Gaara became emotionally withdrawn, all but silent, and consumed with a bitter loathing for everyone but himself. He learned to find pleasure and eventually a reason to live in annihilating the numerous assassins sent to kill him - and by extension, anyone who threatened his existence (anyone who was not himself). His insomnia, forced upon him by the fact that the demon inside him would eat away at his personality if he were to fall asleep, made Gaara further unstable.
In fact, Gaara's situation is almost identical to Naruto's, albeit more unfortunate. Loneliness and the desire to be liked, loved and acknowledged as an individual, free of others' prejudices ¡ª they are themselves, not the demons they were forced to "contain" ¡ª drives both into a desperate state. While Naruto consequently developed the misconception that pranks and mischief would bring him the attention (more precisely: recognition) he sought, Gaara came to the conclusion that he could preserve and confirm his own existence by killing any and all who challenged it. In the absence of others' acknowledgment, he could compensate by valuing only himself to the exclusion of everyone else ¡ª an extreme form of narcissism. Furthermore, while Naruto eventually had Iruka and Team 7 acknowledge him, Gaara never had anyone to bond with and did not understand the concept of fighting for anything other than himself until his confrontation with Naruto.
Beforehand, both boys tried to gain positive attention by being cheerful (in Naruto's case, overly so), kind, and caring, and both had little success. On one occasion, Gaara used his powers to retrieve a ball for a group of children playing nearby and injured them unintentionally with sand when they ran away from him in fear. Later, little Gaara brought medicated ointment to the house of the girl whose wounds were the worst, but she slammed the door in his face, calling him a "bakemono" (monster).

Story: As the Yondaime Kazekage's son, Kankur¨_ is Gaara's and Temari's brother, and a shinobi from the Sunagakure. He carries a strange thing on his back called Karasu (žõ, "Crow"😉 which is basically a marionette that he can use in combination with a technique similar to a Kawarimi no Jutsu (Change of Body Technique); he grabs his opponents with Karasu, which is disguised as himself (and which opponents unwittingly get close to). He then unveils himself from the bandage and finishes his opponent off. Puppets are equipped with traps and devices such as hidden poison-coated blades, poison gas, projectile launchers, and heads and limbs that can be independently used as projectiles.

Story: Daughter of the Yondaime Kazekage, Temari is the sister and teammate of Gaara and Kankur¨_. She carries a giant, metal fan on her back, which she uses as a powerful ninja tool; she specializes in long-range combat, and has demonstrated herself to be a keen analyst (although not of the same caliber as Nara Shikamaru).
Temari is generally caring, if crude, toward her siblings and cohorts, but has a tendency to be quite cruel to her opponents in battle. Temari is more demonstrative with her feelings than Kankurou when dealing with Gaara, and is somewhat less afraid of him. Story: Zaraki's last name comes from the district he once resided in, Zaraki, which is the #80 district of the North Alley of Rukongai. Area #80 is the worst, most lawless region of Rukongai, full of thieves and murderers (whereas area #1 is the most orderly and law-abiding). While residing in Zaraki, Kenpachi was nameless. During that time, he became proficient in swordsmanship and killed numerous enemies.
At some point during his travels outside of Zaraki, he found a small girl and named her Yachiru (八千流😉. The girl came from area #79, Kusajishi (草鹿😉, where her parents were murdered. On that day, he also took on a name, Kenpachi, the title bestowed upon the strongest swordsman, the one who has killed the most. The two developed a father-daughter-like relationship.
After some time had passed, Zaraki found his way to the Court of Pure Souls (Seireitei). He defeated and killed the previous captain of the 11th Division (currently unknown) and gained his seat in the Gotei 13 in this manner.

Powers: The Sharingan (д݆ÑÛ, literally "Copy Wheel Eye", English anime dub "Mirror Wheel Eye"😉 is a special type of pupil that naturally occurs in all members of the Uchiha clan, though not all of them ever discover it. The Sharingan allegedly evolved from the Byakugan (See above) and grants the user a number of abilities. It is a d¨_jutsu (pupil technique). The Sharingan's first and most well known ability is to memorize any technique that it is a witness to. It can memorize ninjutsu (ninja techniques), genjutsu (illusionary techniques), and taijutsu (hand-to-hand techniques) with perfect accuracy and allow the user to use the techniques, as long as they have the necessary resources to do so. Second, it is capable of a unique brand of hypnosis that involves suggesting actions and thoughts to the opponent. Third, it can see through genjutsu, the level of which is possibly dependent on the user's skill. Fourth, it has the ability to predict (and copy) an opponent's movement as well as allowing sight of fast moving objects with great clarity.
The weakness of the Sharingan, in Kakashi's case, is that it drains chakra quickly. In order to copy a jutsu, one has to have the physical ability to perform the technique. For example, they have to have the needed amount of chakra, stamina, agility, and/or strength in order to perform said technique. In addition to physical skill, the Sharingan cannot copy any other bloodline abilities or summon a creature the user has not made a contract with because the user of the sharingan has to have the same blood of the other summoning user. In Itachi's and Sasuke's case, their chakra is still drained, but incredibly more slowly, due to the fact that they have the actual Kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan.
The Sharingan does not automatically appear from birth in a user; instead, it will usually appear when the user is in a life threatening situation, where the power of the Sharingan will save the user. After this first appearance, the user can then call up the Sharingan any time he or she pleases. (Due to its unique nature, Kakashi's Sharingan seems to be "permanently on", and thus he covers it except during heated battles, to conserve chakra.) The power of the Sharingan is judged through the number of tomoe in the person's eye. It is not unheard of for a Sharingan user to have different amounts of tomoe in each eye. For example, Sasuke's Sharingan initially had two tomoe in one eye and one in the other. Eventually his Sharingan evolved to two tomoe in each eye, then three. An "adult" and fully matured Sharingan has three tomoe in each eye.
Interestingly enough, it is possible to transplant Sharingan eyes from one person to another, as is the case with Kakashi and his deceased comrade Obito. However, transplanted eyes do not work as well without an Uchiha body, causing much more strain on the user.

Story: Noted even within the Bingo Book (a list of powerful ninja who have been marked for assassination because of their crimes), Uchiha Itachi is an S-Class criminal and a Konoha Nukenin. He graduated at the top of his Academy class at age 7, had mastered the Sharingan by age 8, became a Ch¨±nin at 10 and was previously a Black Ops (ANBU in the Japanese versions and the English Anime) squad leader at the age of only 13.
He left Konoha about five years prior to the setting of Naruto, after slaying his whole clan, sparing only Uchiha Sasuke, his little brother. At 17, he was feared by even Orochimaru. He is now currently associated with Akatsuki. Orochimaru had planned to use Itachi's body as a new container for his soul, but Itachi's power had grown to such a frightening extent that Orochimaru dared not carry out his plan, and decided to leave Akatsuki and try his luck with the younger Sasuke instead.
The reason Itachi killed his clan, and the reason he left only his brother Sasuke alive, still remains unclear. When questioned by Sasuke, he replied "To test my 'Utsuwa'." In Japanese, 'Utsuwa' (Æ÷) can mean "Vessel," or "Container," but it can also mean "Ability," or "Tool." Orochimaru uses this word to refer to the bodies he takes over with his Fushi Tensei no Jutsu ("Living Corpse Reincarnation"😉. In this respect, Itachi's words can mean anything from him having a past connection with Orochimaru, to him simply wanting to test his own power, or to his plans to join Akatsuki and forsake past relations. To make matters even more ambiguous, the first person pronoun Itachi used can also be used as a vulgar second person pronoun. So he could also have meant that he wanted to test Sasuke's 'Utsuwa,' although this is unlikely, given his previous remarks about his 'Utsuwa'.
Sasuke also had shaped his own theories. During the fight in the forest with Gaara, Sasuke thinks back to his goal in life: Killing Itachi. Sasuke believes that Itachi left him alive because deep down he felt the guilt of killing his entire clan. Sasuke was left alive to eventually become strong enough to punish Itachi for killing the clan. Sasuke believes that he is the embodiment of Itachi's guilt in that way.
He was until recently the only known living person who possessed the Mangeky¨_ Sharingan as revealed in the manga. Itachi has told Sasuke that if Sasuke were to obtain the Mangeky¨_ Sharingan, the people able to use it will total three. It is unknown who the other Mangeky¨_ Sharingan user is, but it most likely isn't Hatake Kakashi, since he only activated his Mangeky¨_ Sharingan about 6 years after Itachi told Sasuke about it.
Despite being the murderer of his entire clan as well as his best and closest friend, a top member of Akatsuki, Itachi is by no means a cold blooded murderer looking for any excuse to kill someone in their way. When Sarutobi Asuma and Y¨±hi Kurenai stood between him and the way to his goal (Uzumaki Naruto), he did not kill Kurenai when given the chance, though he did wound her enough for her to remember it; as well as trap her within her own Genjutsu. He also could have easily killed Kakashi and Sasuke, but he choose just to torture them with his Mangeky¨_ Sharingan, so they would witness his power

Story: Hoshigaki Kisame, along with Uchiha Itachi attempted to kidnap Uzumaki Naruto the first story arc, Part I, but were thwarted by Jiraiya. Itachi later explained that it wasn't the proper time to kidnap Naruto yet. Kisame and his sword Samehada (鮫肌, "Shark skin"😉 both have shark-like characteristics. The sword also has the ability to drain and eat chakra.
Kisame comes from Kirigakure. He is known as the Mysterious Person of the Hidden Mist (霧隠れの怪人, Kirigakure no Kaijin). He is also one of the Kiri no Shinobigatana Shichinin Shū (霧の忍刀七人衆, "Seven Swordsmen of the Mist"😉, seven powerful ninja who utilize large and unique swords. Momochi Zabuza and Kurosuki Raiga (anime only) were also members.
The amount of chakra Kisame possesses is apparently considered very large, even by the Akatsuki's standards. The Leader commented on his amount of chakra; a Kisame body-double at 30% power, made with the Leader's Shōten no Jutsu (Shapeshifting Technique), had as much chakra as Uzumaki Naruto possessed while drawing on the Nine-Tails chakra when he fought Neji during the Chūnin exams. A similar observation was made by Hyūga Neji when he observed Kisame's body-double with his Byakugan. Kisame also has immense physical strength as he demonstrated against Sarutobi Asuma and later against Maito Gai.
Like everyone seen from the Hidden Mist Village, Kisame uses water element jutsu in combination with his powerful physical attacks.
