It was cropped like that in the original photo I used, so...kinda had to keep it that way. 🙁

Well actually, using the smudge tool you could have recreated the top of his head....but that takes a bit of practice 😛

I find that the smudge tool is better for hair than the clone stamp, personally.

Then again, I'm also primarily a photomanipper, so I know some different techinques than most of the rest of the people here.

It gives it a different effect. I like when my photomanips have a more painted look, but my airbrushing and painting skills aren't quite up to actually painting hair (I can do skin just fine....just not really finely detailed things), so I use the smudge tool on the hair to recreate the look.

Other thing I like to do in manips (which I'm just starting to mess around with) is texturing the hell out of it. Which can be hit or miss, but when it works looks really good.
