Persuasive whining

Given that the OTF is basically a meeting place for nerds--sorry, "subject experts"-- I figure it is also a great oppurtunity to whine about how your obsessions are better than everyone else's. Do it here, so people on other threads don't have to listen to you. OK, so it's mostly for me to whine about comics.

Comics are the best...you all others are suckers...then again good music is too....and books.....SCREW YOU.

no sweetie he's a nerd ✅

j/k 😄

I prefer "nerd" to "subject expert"

...Everyone thinks comics are all like "Golly-gee-gosh! We have to stop that blimp before it reaches city hall!"

"It's OK. We'll use the bat-bike! It has pink tassles! But we have to be wearing helmets. Remember kids, bicycle safety is..."

But they aren't. Comics are a medium just like anything else, it's for all different age groups. Fun fact: before Batman adopted Robin as his sidekick, he had a gun in his utility belt and killed the criminals he came across. Also, the Punisher, Constantine, the Blade movies, and Sin City are all based on comic books. And X-Men and Batman and all that, but you should know that already. Conversely, the Incredibles and Sky High are not.

And I prefer "geek" to "nerd".

The less Mainstream comics can eve be considered rather high ranking pieces of literature. Le
's take DKR or Watchmen for example.

Sandman rules.

Sandman won some sort of literature award for best short story and the judges got all whiny and decided comics didn't count. Losers.

Triple post... I have a friend who's obsessed with Disney movies and thinks Gilligan's island is better than Lost. Which is a great show. Really. Next episode Charlie goes back on his heroin! ❌ that makes me sad... He was doing so well but then there was the whole thing with Eko and Claire and Aron and Vincent (Vincent has nothing to do with this but is just such a cool character)

i watched romeo and juliet in school and the guy with the son is in it

Michael? He ran off after the others and hasn't come back. He's probably stuck in a Dharma place with Walt now.

Radiohead wrote two songs for Rome anf Juliet

My school is the worst... if you saw Revenge of the Sith you're a nerd... but 8 Mile didn't make more money than any other movie ever, did it?

He never said wine.

OK...

Comics! Hey Bardock, you read Astonishing X-Men? Know you're a DC guy, but that's great stuff. Better than Claremont's work.

Not really, haven't read marvel in years (well except for Supreme Power..but that was just marvelized DC)

What X-Men are in that?

Cyclops, Beast, Kitty Pryde, Wolverine, Emma Frost, Colossus.

The last arc had the Danger Room go sentient and take out the X-Men, but then Professor X almost takes her down siglehandedly. And not just with a mindbolt or something stupid like that. Drives an 18-wheeler into her face.
