Dawn of Souls

So i've recently gotten through most of Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls and think it's the greatest RPG ever. Is Final Fantasy IV Advance similarly great?

I completed the mainstream FF II, but I'm stuck in the levistone phase in FF I. And I find it boring in the Soul of Rebirth (FF II).

I think Final Fantasy IV is better than Dawn of Souls. It's harder and FFIV is my favorite one in the series.

Hey I just started playing this and was wondering whether you can actually use items like potions and antidotes outside of a battle. If you can, how? I'd greatly appreciate some help.
