One of the absolute best horror films I've ever seen. I think there's a thread somewhere, but it can't be searched for because the title "May" is too short.
Anyways, great movie, great acting and directing, it's everything a good horror movie should be. Frightening, disturbing, thought provoking and with a message.
I think the scariest thing about the movie, and the story, is that all of it could have been avoided by simply giving her the slightest of genuine affection and acceptance. The ending is incredibly haunting and poignant and makes this glaringly obvious.
I wouldn't necessarliy call May a "bad ass" as much as "mentally unbalanced individual with severe emotional problems and homicidal tendencies". I think that the overall moral of the story is that negative outcomes can be avoided if you just show a little respect, and even a little love. BTW, I had to explain to a few of my non-horror friends, whom I made watch this movie, that the very end scene was in May's mind, and not real. I'm talking about
Spoiler:
when her creation, "Amy", puts it's arm around May and lovingly strokes her head as if nothing else matters.
