James Cromwell join's Spider-man 3 as....

James Cromwell has joined the cast of Columbia Pictures' Spider-Man 3 as Captain Stacy, the father of Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Gwen.

In the "Amazing Spider-Man" comic books, Stacy dies a heroic death as he saves a child during a battle between Spider-Man and another supervillain. Peter Parker love interest Gwen Stacy (Howard) ends up blaming Spider-Man for her father's death.

Cromwell joins returning cast members Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco as well as Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church and Theresa Russell. Sam Raimi is directing.

Cromwell is best known for starring in the "Babe" movies, the first of which earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, and as a villain in "L.A. Confidential." His recent role on "Six Feet Under" earned him an Emmy mention in 2003.

Another character to take away from Venom's screen time,if he's in it.Sandman's too.

With her father in it,it looks like Gwen Stacy is going to be a major player in this.

I wonder if he will die along with her or it will end with neither dying.

hey it is the guy from star trek first contact movie. cool.

I have a strange feeling about the movie.
May be we will get the best Spidey movie ever or the worst. With so much characters I really cant believe that Venom will be in the movie. His character alone would fill the movie and now we get the Staycys, Sandman, his wife more MJ Peter love etc.

I really hope that this film will atleast be 3-4 hours long or they will make it suck so bad

YES! I bet Venom is gonna kill the guy. I also think that Venom is gonna bite a chunk out of Sandman and kill him. Oh, that would be so amazing.

Less chance for Venom I am getting really happy.

With so many major charcters bein introed into 1 film its gna suck unbelivably unless sam raimi is some sort of god at directing.

And we know thats not going to happen 🙄

I was wondering with the news of Gwen being in the film if Captain Stacy was far behind.Looks like we got our answer.speaking of LA Confidential,I just saw that movie for the first time last week.Cromwell usually plays baddies in all his movies like he did in that one so it will be interesting seeing him play a good guy for a change.

I think he'll only have a bit part. Maybe a short scene here and there at the most.
