Mosley wasn't part of any conspiracy, really.
He was just a crooked cop like the rest of the force who ended playing a modern day "Serpico", that's all. He was supposed to escort Bunker (Mos Def) to the courthouse, and when he found out it was to testify against the cops, including himself, instead of offing Bunker,

he helped him escape.
Then Willis' character felt compelled to use that day as the one to turn his life around, like Bunker did.

It's a great story of personal redemption, and far from a cliche action movie (given there was very little.). I enjoyed it very much, even if Mos Def's "accent" was borderline annoying as hell. Well written and directed, IMO. Not to mention effective.

I didn't find Def's Accent annoying.
