i doubt any have touched down yet near my area, but there are TONS of red spots over our area on the weather channel

That in itself means nothing, on weather radars the colors have to do with rainfall, not the storm intensity.

Stuff like that is universal.
The storm we had here earlier was orange and it wasn't anything more than thunder, some lightning, and a LOT of rain and wind. Not even so much as a tornado watch.
