Thrawn vs Palpy

Ok, 2 master manipulators duking it out on a galactic scale. Both have 1 super star destroyer, 4 victory class, and supporting ships and fighters. Disregard Force powers.

I go with thrawn because palpy's more a political manipulator than military but.... who knows what sith military secrets he's got?

As a tactician and military strategist, Thrawn whups Sidious.

Heh! I say Thrawn, if we are discounting Battle Meditation that Sidious had. Sidious is indeed more of a political mastermind, rather than a military one. He lets people like Vader and Thrawn deal with that.

So can anyone think of anyone who could be Thrawns equal? Not Ackbar, we already saw that in Zahn's trilogy. Revan maybe???

Nobody is Thrawn's equal in military prowess, I'd say.

Even with Battle Meditation, I doubt Sidous would be able to defeat Thrawn.

I think your all forgetting Palpatine's Foresight ability. Its the best we've seen anyone have before. Palpatine would probably know what Thrawn was going to do before he did it. See the reason Palpatine IS so good at manipulation is that he knows whats going to happen and does things accordingly.

thrawn does the exact same thing, cep not with force powers. he can even make super accurate predictions about things that will happen in 10 years!

Exactly. if you even read the books Thrawn will say that palp odered Thrawn to attack a place. thrawn, in all his genious. saw that the attack was flawed and doomed to fail. He refused to obey orders and so palpatine took Thrawn's army and gave it to someone else. The guy attacked like palpatine ordered him to and got his ass handed to him. Palpatine gave thrawn his army back and didn't mess with him again. That pretty much shows who was the better tactition. Anthother example: Palpatine had a huge navy and army, he controled almost every sector in the galaxy, but he couldn't defeat a small band of rebels who were hiding. Thrawn's force was almost nothing, they had like maybe 20 sectors out of liek thousands, and they were fighting the new republic. It's true that the republic was still unorganized and such, but they had alot more firepower than the empire and had quite a few brilliant generals of their own. So. Why is it that Palpatine cant defeat a small band of rebels when he has the largest most powerful force in the galaxy? Yet Thrawn can come up from behind and whoop the Republic's ass?

This is kinda like my thread about Mace Windu, Obi-Wan, and Yoda vs. General Grievous in commanding armies

Thrawn > Sidious in military tactics by an ungodly degree.
