If you could create your own series...

I don't mean create new characters, I mean, if you could work for DC or Marvel and make your own team out of existing characters, who would you put on a team, who would you give a solo series and so on.

Feel free to incorporate the answers to these following questions:

-What company would you work for?

-Who would be on your superhero team and WHY?

-Which character would you make a major change to, what would it be, and why?

-Have any plot ideas?

Tick/Spider-Man team-up. They fight Chairface Chippendale, Firelord, and inner city venerial disease.

...t'would sell millions I tell you. 🙂

I actually had an idea earlier today while reading a thread an another board about how redundant Aquaman is on the JLA and someone said he would probably flourish on another team. The idea borrows from Heroes for Hire, when Namor was funding them. AM starts a land-based team and funds them (he runs a massive freaking kingdom, he should be able to throw around at LEAST as much cash as Bats), but also leads them. I'd give him back the water hand (I heard he lost it), I don't care how many writers/editors that would piss off.

I'd put Animal Man on there, beucase I just think the interaction between the personalities and powers of those two would be interesting. I'd also take Cassandra Cain (the last Batgirl) and Catman for the ubiquitous street-levellers. I'd bring in Damage and Ray, and have them develop their powers a great deal in the title, with Ray reaching Dr. Light levels of versatility and Damage gaining much more fine control of his powers, making accidental and tragic releases of stored energy a thing of the past. I duno much about the mystic characters in DC, but I'd want someone like that on the team. Maybe Zatanna. And I'd want a techno guy. Take some random obscure scientist from one of DC's books, have him stumble across some alien tech that supes up his brainpower, turning him into an Engineer type, only replacing the nanotech with an arsenal stored in a pocket dimension that he accesses by thought. He would, of course, have a suit of armor with a few basic weapons, uber sensor suites and a shield generator. I'd probably want a speedster, but I'd probably have to invent my own, since Wally West is taken (or even completely gone, as of IC).

Basically, I'd try to have this team take on threats that haven't shown up on the JLA's radar. Extradimensional army forming to attack Earth? Go kick their asses in before they hit the planet. Some random evil genius designing some new device that might actually threaten the world? Put him down in the planning stages (while still having to fight through his army of evil droids or soemthing).

But yeah. I think the real struggle would be fiding threats that would be credible world-threateners but still write the situations in such a way that would explain why the JLA doesn't just step in and take over first. Of course, this would eventually happen, leading to the usual "Heroes coming to blows over a misunderstanding" scene.

Basically, it would be a fairly powerful team, but one in which no one is made to look like crap to make someone else look good. The title would be one as free from PIS and CIS as possible.

It's not a new team, but I'd love to write the Ultramarines. These guys nearly took down the JLA, created a floating city, and they've still only been mentioned in like 7 comics.

That sounds pretty awesome, man! 😮‍💨

Anyone else have any neat ideas?

I'd start up something involving Ragman. Comletely underrated character.

Other than that, not many ideas... though I'd love to write a really grim, moody, scary Batman like Arkham Asylum. Twould be fun.

I would do a MASSIVE DC/Marvel combination. Not a crossover, a fusion. The very very very basic premise would be that some power being has fused the worlds together, and all the villains are teaming up to take over (sort of like a battle royal of comics). There would be lots of subplots, cause this would take a long time to get through the series - such as DC characters hooking up with Marvel characters (one that comes to mind are Wonder Woman and Thor possibly). There would be a section wherein the mutants feel as though they are discriminated against (you know someone like Superman isn't gonna trust Wolverine), there's a fight over who should be considered the leaders and such. Eventually they work it all out and there is a sort of Master JLU/Avengers society, wherein the basic leaders are Superman, Batman, Captain America, Professor X, Wonder Woman and Spider-Man (Just making that off the top of my head, it would probably change if I gave it lots of thoughts). Yadda yadda yadda, it would end with lots of deaths on both sides, and a sort of definitive "single comic-verse" to go from.

such an epic
it would be pretty cool

Mine is a cool anime cartoon style show
with characters from: Teen Titans, Kirby, Mon Colle Knights
Inuyasha, Mew Mew Power, Cardcaptors and Danny Phantom.
It's called Justice Knights.

Thor versus Sentry

It would be so damn awesome ....

That would be pretty awesome.

Hardly anyone would root for Sentry though.

i always wanted to read a series where the main characters are presented as background characters. like, if it was a superhero team, the story mainly revolves around the people they fight and their perspective of the team, not on the team and their perspectives of themselves and eachother. don't know who would be ideal, but i'd try to write something like that if i got into the business. it'd be nice if some of the characters were well-known, so the writing could be a different perspective than the one most-known, not just a new perspective people have nothing to contrast with.

I'd so work for Marvel. Hands down kick ass.
Ultimate Spiderman and (currently happening) Ultimate Shadow Cat (in her spider-girl costume) vs. Marvel Nemisis Altered Spidey and Altered Iron-Man (looks like War machine.) I love these four. They're bad ass and strong as hell.
No changes. They're good the way they are.
Peter and Kitty are on a date and are attacked by altered clone of Petey and altered Iron man.

Uhh, making a change (due to the number of girls in the team).
Teen Titans, Kirby, Mon Colle Knights, Danny Phantom and
She-Venom.

lol

i think a squirrel girl series would be a hoot

i really like the idea of the sort of satirical look at fanboyism and canon that she potrays, unfortunatly it might run thin eventually

i'll just keep prayin she winds up in nextwave

I love Danny Phantom
! But he needs to unlock all his powers before he's completely useful.

Actually in this series, he has all his powers just like
Starfire and her starbolts eyes, Raven's time power
and Mondo and Rockna multiple spells.

I'd love to write New Avengers, Captain America, and maybe a new Force Works with Jim Rhodes at the helm. I'd have to roll around some ideas for a lineup for the latter, but I'd definately put modifications to the War Machine armor, and I'd bring back Century. He was a great character.

My series would include Phoenix of the White Crown sending out all the Phoenix hosts we saw in Here Comes Tomorrow to find her missing pieces through time, space and dimensions. Each one having to face an aspect of the being they are trying to reform. Some could run into somebody who is insane with power, another goes to one who is using the power to heal the sick, so then a moral dilemma arises because being incomplete the members of the Phoenix Corps still possess their human emotions. I call it Phoenix ForceX. Then at the end they all go after Rachel in the time stream with an epic battle explaining why the Phoenix Force mysteriously abandoned her.

Great ideas people!

Keep em coming.

I'm gonna have to think about what I would do.
