Tim Burton's vision of batman was just that. A vision of batman. The new one is THE batman.... in my opinion.

Tim Burton doesn't even read comic books. He said so. ermm

Tim Burton essentially created a darker Batman, and cause comic to reinvent/rewrite a darker batman. Without his "vision" the current Batman would not have existed.

But Tim Burton's vision of batman WAS just that. That's not opinion. I guess it is just MY opinion that the new one is the "real" one. Which, technically, it isn't. Since it's too real to be..... real.

Truth: I just ordered Tom Waits Through work today 🙂

I guess it was the whole "In my opinion" part that threw me off.

Neat. Anything specific?

I love the level of knowledge of Batman displayed here. Punky, it's clear you know almost nothing of the work of Batman. If you even look back to batman of the 60's and 70's and even up until the 80's until Frank Miller did The Dark Knight it was almost nothing but cartoonish. The characters like The Riddler, The Joker, The Penguin, didn't even start off as serious characters until Burton put a shred of darkness of it (BTW, I know The Riddler wasn't in a Burton flick, but I'm talking about the whole Batman universe.). I like Batman Begins, but to say Burton didn't do it the way it was envisioned is silly because Burton was one of the people who helped turn Batman into a serious character.

Um... hmm... I thought you would have referred to Blight.

the very early comic books are utterly irrelevant tho. every superhero then was cartoonish.

burton did make batman "dark", but AFTER stripping the character of its very essentials.

it was Bruce Timm who took the hint from Burton's failed attempt at Batman and finally did the character justice. 😄

Could you elaborate on that.

How the hell is the 80's very early? By the time it was the 60's-70's Batman was already 20-30 years old. Only in the past like 20 or so years has Batman been a truly dark character. Also all this talk about failed attempts and "stripping the essentials"; why don't you elaborate?

I know nothing about batman?

Burton didn't fail. He did a pretty good job with what was available at the time in my opinion. Batman and Batman return were both pretty well done in my opinion. The two Batman sequels after those were a bit overdone, and lacked and artistic touch.

I was referring to the part about how Burton caused Batman to change into what he is today.

When I get into someone... I get obsessed. So I will probably have all of his albums if I can afford it by the end of the month. Make it a couple months.. he's been around a while haermm

I disagree.

1. Jack Nicholson played the best joker of all time. Ledger will never be up to those standards.

2. Michael Keaton may not have been the best batman ever, but I still like him more than Bale.

3. Catwoman. Hello?

I disagree with the first two statements completely. awesome

Ditto. I'm working on Dream Theater. 9 Studio albums, several live albums, should be expensive. mmm

It's cool and it sucks all at the same time. I will almost literally listen to nothing else while I am in obsession mode.

I'll see if I dig Dream Theatre and become obsessed after Waits.

I need to start listening to Godflesh though.. it's kindof what the style of our band is going to be I think...

Haha... tell me how much input do you see a producer actually put into a movie? At the end of the day it seem to be whether or not you can make up for your loses.
