Someone just called me a piece of shit. Here's the conversation leading up to it via Facebook:
Them: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. :::: Does this offend you? Well, too bad and cry me a river. Love it, or leave it.
Me: Doesn't "offend" me, just seems trivial.
Them: Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but something many people don't know is that the original pledge from 1892 didn't have "under God" in it. That wasn't added until 1954.
Me: Why they say it in school is beyond me
Them: You pledge allegience to something, you have to. Even if it yourself. I think that if your were to pledge allegience to anything, it should be your country and your God. I don't think that is trivial in the slightest. I would prefer to use the words honorable, courageous, and mabe even commendable. That is just me thinking, however.
Me: I pledge allegiance to God and God only. I owe no allegiance to this country, it's just another block of land. The freedom I have here, I can have the same freedom in England, Canada, Australia, France (they invented Democracy BTW), Italy........Well, you get my point. The U.S.A. is just another country. Way I see it, the countries of the world are like a neighborhood full of 10 year olds. The U.S.A. just happens to be the biggest bully on the block. And we all know that won't last forever.
i remembered but i didnt want to creep you out.
