Totally agree, I wised up to that and just started handing them in to charity, which is better anyway really. Over here they don't give you money back; smaller shops are likely to as well as dedicated buy and sell shops but the bigger shops offer you store credit which is useless when they rip you off like you've said.
Thing is though, the bigger shops have loyalty cards now which give you credit; credit which you can use to help along a payment for a game but again its not that helpful unless you turn up with a van full of games.

ive grown up without a lot of money, i don't really need too much until i do gain financial responsibilities and a job
till then, im fine saving what little money i have for something down the road i might like to buy
it might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but it'll crop up eventually, i know it will
