The Valley Service Center auto shop in Overton has recently undergone a change in ownership; and a change in name. The shop, previously owned by local businessman Kent Slight, was purchased last month by mechanic Cal Hall. It now goes by the name of Cal’s Repair Center.Other than the new name on the door, customers won’t see much of a difference in the shop, Hall said. And that is the way he wants it. He has already been running the Valley Service Center shop for nearly eight years now and has been the one to established the customer service procedures the shop is known for.
“We will still provide the same great service and honest treatment to our customers,” Hall said. “We treat people the way we would want our own family treated.”
Hall has nearly 40 years experience in the field of auto mechanics. He said that he started working on cars when he was a teenager.
He has a long history with this particular shop in Overton. He recalls that he worked as a mechanic in the same building for several years, starting in 1987, when it was the Water Hole. After leaving the Overton community, he spent another 13 years running a similar shop in Tennessee. Eventually, though, he returned back to Overton.
Hall is an ASE certified mechanic and the shop will continue to be an authorized NAPA Service Center, he said.
Cal’s Repair Center will offer a full-service garage to the community. They will do everything from oil changes and brake jobs to installing rebuilt transmissions. In addition to cars and trucks, the shop can work on boats, ATVs, recreational vehicles and even construction equipment.
“The only thing that we don’t do is tires,” Hall said.
In addition, the shop is the only place in town where customers can get propane refills, Hall said.
Room mate lost his shitty job in a call center and is probably moving back in with his parents an hour away because he is a colossal failure, so I'm saddled with all this shit to take care of because he is a manchild who's never heard of the concept of hygiene.
On the plus side no more wretched stench, and I might get a cool roommate if I decide to move into a dorm at school.
