Zidane was arguably one of the greatest players when he was in his prime. I remember watching him when I was younger and it was always great watching that man play soccer, but he ended his long career with a poor exit. What the Italian said was most likely uncalled for, but did Zidane's headbutt resolve anything? The tide of that game may have turned if Zidane had still stood among that field.
He's a great kicker as well. He defeated Portugal with one Penalty kick during the middle of the game. If he had been in the PS', he may have won over the Shootouts and conquered Italy.
But . . . It didn't happen and Zidane left with a red card at his face. Bottom line.
What Rooney did was complete and utter bullshit and he deserved his card.
But so did Zidane, and stop thinking he didn't just because he has a vista of Experience. That's irrelevant to his headbutt. Get over it.

There wasn't even an investigation on it nor was there any point close to people thinking that what Rooney did was an accident. He lost his temper and stomped a Portuguese player in the jewels.
