Why did God rest on the 7th day?

some insight on the translation of rest:

While it is true that many translations of the Bible such as the New Revised Version Standard (NRSV), the King James' Version (KJV) and others render the word Shavat as "rested" a more accurate translation of Shavat is "abstained," i.e., "God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because He abstained from all His work which God created to make" (Gen. 2:4). Nachmanides (12th century) interpreted these words to mean "he ceased to perform all His creative work."

Time cannot control anything. Remember that time is space. See the theory of Relativity. If you are outside of space-time then you do not experience space-time. If you do not experience space-time, then the concept of "rest" is nonsensical.
that's why i said "he did it as an example"

dumbass, it's assumed for the sake of this thread that the bible is true. stop trolling.

Its like going to the star wars forum and saying all arguments are invalid because star wars doesn't exist in real life.

So, you have read my posts there. 😂 The main difference is that there are people who really believe that the bible is true. No one would ever believe that star wars was true... oh wait...

BTW you really have never met any trolls, have you?

Don't worry, any time a thread gets away from him Shaky will just say something irrelevant and pretend that it's meaningful. You can safely ignore him.

Unlike you, my friend, who can never ignore anything I say. 😂

Because he was tired/exhausted/felt sleepy.

The government owns you. When you don't pay so does society.

Nothing in life comes without a price. You drink too much bear and you get drunk.

God rested the seventh day to establish sabath mostly, which is to say, the myth of God "resting" at the end of the creation is a post-revisionist way of justifying a day of rest in the week. Why? Because judaism is an optimist religion in which God is a person, or at the very least acts like a person and seems concerned with worldly matters such as richness, respect and rituals. God resting is just a way to make him similar to humans who need rest, is a reflection of humanity.

Another interpretation could be that God stopped the seventh day, but it was a punctual stop (I don't know if the original hebrew version uses the perfect aspect of the verb "rest"😉. Hence, we know that after this punctual stop which ended, God continued creation on the basis described during Genesis. The sense would be that God has a pace but never quite stops.

I don't understand the down side of your point. 😂

Love. It's a four letter word. You must first pay for the beer, before you learn to love it. 🙂
