Leias' memories of her mother

In ROTJ Leia descrides her memories of her mother to Luke as being "very beautiful, but sad" . I was thinking that she must be talking about her mother on Alderan, Bails wife. The way Bail says to Yoda and Ob1 ' My wife and I will take the girl, we've always wanted to adopt a baby girl" . So maybe the sadness that Leia felt had something to do with her ( alderaan) mother inability to have childeren and her knowledge of tragic curcumstances that lead to her adopting Leia.

I think most people think that in ROTJ Leia is talking about Padme.

Wouldn't Bails's wife be happy because she was able to adopt a baby girl? 😬

No, she was not talking about Bail's wife, because the conversation was specifically talking about her REAL mother.

i thought so too it would be padme because that talk is about 'their mother' (luke and leia's)

but wasnt Padme her REAL mother, cause Bail's wife was her adopted mother?

she was talking about padme. the only thing she remembered were feelings and images.

yeah she's talking about Padmé, in a strange way, Leia remembers it and Luke doesn't
How....you can see that Luke was always very interested in his father in episode IV, he was very curious about him and he is actually also a lot similar to his father and he was more connected to him than to his mother

With Leia she is more connected with Padmé, they are also very similar. That is how she is connected with her and she can bring up images through the Force.

I know you might find this explenation weak, but it is suppose to be like this...

No, it makes sense. Post-ROTJ literature gets into the force sensitivity differences between Luke and Leia. She won't be as strong as he is, but she's gifted in a different way, with understanding of personal nature. It's no accident she became a diplomat. I suppose even in those brief moments as a newborn, she felt and understood who her mother was, through her force sensitivity. Leia didn't even realize HOW young she actually was, when Padme died.

The odd thing is actually... how does Leia remember her mother's face? It's not like Lucas to goof up the fact that Leia is the one that Padme looks at. In ROTS though, it's Luke.

Whel Leia said she was beautiful, maybe she meant inside. Or maybe Bail showed her pictures. We don't know how much he and his wife told her of her parentage...could be little or nothing.

The Force can make you see the past and the future...it's not like Luke had to see cloud city first in reality so he could see what was gonna happen...

oh woops i misread what ush said

I always thought it was about Bail's wife.

It couldnt be Bail's wife cuz last time leia saw her was before the destruction of aleraan. so shes only been away for several years.

Movie-wise, it's a flaw.

the story says that Breha died of an illness, so she died long before the destruction of Alderaan, but I can't confirm if it's canon.

I don't think it is a flaw. I believe what I said is true...lots of things are meant to be spiritual and not taken litteraly, like the death of Padmé dying of a broken heart. Medically that's impossible, but still it happened.
