Snow
The small town of Jagger Hill had always just been a dot on the map. No one born their ever made anything of their life, except one person. One soul was finally able to escape the restraints of the small rural town and finally made a name for herself. If you ever asked someone what they thought of Stacy Holt they would have asked who? Stacy had always been reserved throughout her years in Jagger Hill, but she did have a true friend, Joe. Joe had been her friend since they were young kids. He always was very intrepid in defending Stacy.
When Stacy turned seventeen she was discovered in a school play as a very talented vocalist. Her parents were very impetuous in deciding to move to New York City. They felt as if Stacy would have a better chance of fulfilling her dream of recording a CD in the city. With great alacrity, Stacy began to record her first album and to a great surprise it was a hit. The once shy girl had become very unabashed. Her once reserved clothing style had quickly changed to more flamboyant apparel. But throughout all of the fame and the fortune, Stacy was still able to retain her serenity.
Emerald green eyes watched the bright night stars in the dark sky as the cold nipped at a tanned face. Long blond hair fell over slender shoulders and ended at a twenty-one year old’s back. Four years after she had been discovered, Stacy Holt had returned back to Jagger Hill for her Christmas break. She had forgotten how cold it had been here during the winter. A white sweater, black jeans, a pink scarf and a matching pink hat didn’t help to keep the musician warm. She sat on her porch waiting for her friend Joe to pick her up. She felt great ennui as she waited in the cold for her friend.
Stacy was momentarily blinded as she saw the lights of a car pull into her driveway. She stood to her feet and walked over to the car. Stacy got into the car and feet the warmth of the heat. She looked at the driver and smiled at Joe. His short brown hair was the same shade of brown as his mystic eyes. He wore a black zip-up sweater and a pair of jeans. Though Joe’s family might not have been the most wealthy family, they were the most pure of heart.
The two caught up on the years they’ve been apart during the car ride. Stacy told him every single story she had from her experience, while Joe told her about all the kids they went to school with. Joe told her that the brazen girl that had always picked on Stacy lived in a trailer park, which made Stacy sad due to her pacific personality. Joe told her that it was because of Yvette’s own indolent ways she lived with her ex-con brother in a trailer park. This made Stacy feel a bit better, but not much. But Stacy still pretended to be happy because of curse of being too complaisant for her own good.
Joe pulled the car over at the local park, and turned off the engine. The both of them got out of the car, and walked through the dark park. It was very conspicuous that Joe was trying to make the night as romantic as he could. Joe wrapped his arm around Stacy’s shoulder as he led her down to the lake. The two of them had great memories from many years ago at this very lake.
Joe looked Stacy dead in her eyes and pulled her into a tight embrace. He held her in his arms so docile. Stacy felt the warmth of Joe against her body as he held her. Joe put his lips to Stacy’s ear, and whispered his love for her.
Before Stacy could respond, she felt Joe’s lips softly brush against her own. She quickly started to kiss him back. While the two kissed, the heaven’s opened and snow slowly began to fall from the sky. The snow danced gracefully throughout out the sky as it fell towards the ground. The two began to be come covered in snow as they kissed.
The two were interrupted by a loud pandemonium. They let go of each other as they looked behind them to see Yvette and her brother standing their. Her brother looked very imperturbable, looking at them with a blank expression on his face. Yvette began to yell at Stacy, but when Joe stood up for her, he unintentionally incited Yvette’s brother.
Yvette and her brother ran towards them, and a fight broke out. Yvette punched Stacy, knocking her into the shallow end of the lake. Stacy hit her head on a rock on the bottom of the lake, and lost conscience. As everything faded to black, she heard a strident gasp of pain.
Several hours later, Stacy awoke on the banks of the lake. She slowly stood to her feet, holding on her throbbing head. In the distance she could see Joe lying inert on the ground, and ran over to him. Once she reached Joe, Stacy dropped to her knees at checked Joe’s pulse. She quickly took out her cell phone and called nine-nine-one. In fifteen minutes an ambulance had shown up and taken the both of them to the hospital.
After Stacy’s test results showed that she only suffered a concussion and that she would be fine, she waited in Joe’s room right next to him. Stacy was joined by Joe’s family as well as her own family. After thirty minutes of waiting, a doctor came into the room delivering horrid news. He told them that Joe had been stabbed in his lower back, and his spinal cord had been completely severed. The man told them that Joe would be completely paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life, if he would to ever wake from his comma.
Stacy lost her composure and began to cry on his Joe’s chest. She couldn’t believe that the love of her life would suffer for the rest of his life because of her. Stacy felt that the only reason this happened was because Yvette was jealous of Stacy’s wealth. Stacy vowed to never sing another song as long as she lived. Hot tears fell from Stacy’s eyes and landed on Joe’s chest, before she felt a hand rub her back. Stacy dismissed the hand thinking it was her parents until she heard everyone gasp. Stacy looked up to see Joe looking down at her.
Stacy and Joe’s parents told him how he would be paralyzed for the rest of his life. Stacy looked at the doctor with tears in her eyes and asked if their was anything they could do to cure him. The doctor told him their was one procedure, but it was very expensive. Stacy heard Joe’s mom began to weep because she knew she would never be able to afford it. Stacy said that she’d pay for the procedure, and after a few protests, Stacy was finally able to convince everyone to let her pay for it. Stacy received a huge hug from Joe’s mom as she wrote a check for the doctor.
Twenty years have passed since that cold winter night in Jagger Hill. The surgery was a success, and Joe regained all motion in his legs. Yvette and her brother were sentenced to life in prison without bail. Joe and Stacy got married, and had three beautiful children. Stacy has never sang another song her entire life, and had never been happier.
