Tales Of Mana[RPG Thread]
[ Sorry, For My Long Absences. I have been busy lately. ]
Every new step Reki took seemed to require more and more effort, as though lead weights had attached themselves to his feet and were working their hardest to root him to the spot. This feeling was all too familiar. Dread was tearing its way up from inside him, and he tried in vain to ignore the panicked adrenaline that was beginning to course through his system with each thud of his heart.
Not again. He couldn’t deal with this again.
His hands were trembling. He knew what was coming, the same terrifying sensations and broken thoughts telling him that reality was about to shake itself loose and come tumbling down around him.
Trying to calm his breathing, Reki crashed back against a tree trunk, clasping a hand over his forehead and screwing his eyes shut.
Reki’s eyes snapped open as the image slammed into his mind, almost making him drop to his knees with a choking gasp. All that belonged to verisimilitude span around him and he found himself back there…back at that place he always tried to forget and yet never managed to escape…
Her hand, bloody and broken, reached up to lightly brush Kyougu’s wide eyed face, before it fell to hit the floor as her body became a dead weight in his arms.
The man dropped back against the tree, desperately trying to fight the flashback. His grandfather’s words hammered into his mind as clearly as the day he had first heard them.
‘Do not underestimate your potential…you are capable of so much more.’ Juuniji winced and clutched his chest, before firmly meeting Reki’s gaze for a final time.
The sudden deathly silence converged with an overwhelming solitude……….. an inescapable nausea oscillated up through him, and his thoughts refused to stay still, leaping from one to the next in a frenzy of fragmented images….
Falling to his knees, Reki clasped his arms over his head, gritting his teeth as his mind threatened to crack.
The spray of blood soaked his arms and face, but he continued without showing even a trace of emotion. Jyan didn’t even have time to drop to the ground before Reki’s foot slammed into his chest, sending his cousin’s limp form flying back into……..
These were images that Reki wasn’t sure were even his own memories. He recalled them, relived them as though it were someone else that had done all the terrible deeds he watched himself do.
The visions started to merge into each other, making his world spin in a nauseating gyration of sanguinary spectacle.
Her hand, bloody and broken, reached up to lightly brush……his agonised scream was cut short as the wakizashi sliced….the terrified older man helplessly tried to crawl away from Kyougu…the smell of death was….
Reki nearly gagged as existence snapped suddenly back into normality. He lost all the strength in his body, collapsing sideways as he tried to stop hyperventilating.
It had been two months since he had last had a flashback like that. The last one hadn’t been as disquieting, and again the last one before that had been lesser so. This increase in his inability to hold on to his sanity was greatly distressing.
The man decided he had better rest himself for a while before trying to continue on his departure.
