'Open Your Eyes' or 'Vanilla Sky'

Hey, people, I have one very important question.I hope you can help me. I watched 'Vanilla Sky' with Tom Cruise and Penélope Cruz and I want to know if this movie, or the Spanish 'Open Your Eyes' ('Vanilla Sky' is based on it), is based on any book, or essay or something which I can read and find over the Internet. I hope you people can help me.

vanilla sky is actually a remake of Alejandro Amenabar's Abre los ojos (1997) which is his "remake" of Vertigo (1958), by Hitchcock.....penelope cruz also plays Sophia on that movie
Abre Los Ojos means Open Your Eyes in spanish
