Which brings us to their current situation. The New Avengers not quite the powerhouses as the old team (yet) but it'll all work out in the end (Civil War) Or NOT... 😈

Yes he did the EXTREMIS armor. But it hasn't been brought out into the other MARVEL titles yet only in The Invincible Iron Man #1-#6. So it has happened after this Civil War starting... Hopefully It will show up soon...It should.
Recently, after being critically injured during a battle with the Extremis-enhanced Mallen, Stark injected his nervous system with a modified techno-organic virus to save his own life. This fused Stark's armor to his body, allowing him to store the inner layers of the Iron Man armor in the hollows of his bones as well as control it through direct brain impulses. He is also able to remotely connect to external communications systems such as satellites, cellular phones, and computers throughout the world. Because the armor's operating system is now directly connected to Stark's nervous system, its response time has been significantly improved.

IM just got the idea from young kang the conqueror when he showed up as Iron LAd with his neuro kinetic armor....and IM thought it was psycho kinetic and made a comment that the tech was 15 yrs off, and KAng corrected him and told him it was from hundreds of years in the future...it would seem natural he wouldnt let a brillinat idea like that slip away from him...and i like it
but that begs the question tho..how has he been controlling the armor all this time?...not unless his visor has a mechanism to cancell the soundwaves from his voice when he's giving it voice commands😄.....repulsar blast attack!!

anyway, i thought the extremis arc was occuring alongside the "sending hulk to space" story, making it post-illuminati special, but pre-civil war.
also, i believe in the "speedball v. terrax" scenario, speedball got trapped in a confined area (i think it was one of those concrete cylinders at constructions sites) and due to the close quarters and natural kinetic amplification aspect of his power, he couldn't let off enough kinetic energy to bounce at controllable speeds. so he continued to bounce back and forth and around faster and faster, and when he finally got out of the tube, he used all that energy in one stiff punch to terrax's face. iirc. don't remember if that took him down permanently, but it was a flashy scene.
