Hey, when you guys are writing(if you do) Do you have problems changing Said for something? It happens once and awhile while I'm writing but what are some of the other words you use most often for a replacement for Said.Give ones with this kind of Sentence:
Amazed
Sad
Mad
Bored
Normal
writing advice:
using “said” when appropriate isn’t always a bad thing. If you end up using too many crazy words in it’s place…it will make your story sound unnatural and slightly ridiculous.
It’s more important to establish a tone and get into a sort of flow with your characters. A reader should be able to get an idea of who is speaking by the way they speak…you know what I mean? If you can get your character’s voice down, you can cut back on using “said” too many times, if that’s bothering you. If your character is amazed, sad, angry, excited, etc., the reader should be able to get idea of this by the word choice in the dialogue and the tone of your character’s voice.
But there’s nothing wrong with using “said”. Using other words can add affect at times…but use them sparingly.
