Several years ago I helped Trey prepare a tape for the SP pilot "Spirt of Christmas". His intention was to present it to FOX. I don't remember saying so, but I thought he was crazy. I later heard that FOX turned him down before Comedy Central picked up South Park. Perhaps this is part of the reason he resents Family Guy.
i think theres too much being read into it, on the southpark episode they actually said "sometimes the pointless humor is what people want." they always take both sides of the argument, they had cartman fighting to ax the show because he hates it and kyle fighting for free speech. i think they're just taking the piss because they can. family guy is no threat to southpark and vice versa.
The main objective of the two episodes were to take a hit at the ridiculous mohamed rules, family guy was just used to set the plot in motion, being a show that attacks simmilar topics, yet with a different style wich the producers of southpark find weak, personaly i prefer south park over FG, but i am also a fan of family guy, and to be honest south parks attack at family guy was very weak to add to that, they basically just copied exactely what family guy would do in an episode, yet without the humour, that is just a weak tactic you use when you have no other ideas, and you can basically do it with absolutely any comedy show to discredit it...but i emphasize that writers do that when they have nothing material to work with. I myself am part of a team working on an animated comedy so i can kind of see the psychology behind the satire...
South park all in all is a much more consistent and better composed show than family guy, family guy has its hillarious peaks, but also exaggarates and extends things wich becomes quite annoying at times, basically its visible that quite often they do not have a concrete idea for a story line and throw in random jokes to compensate for that, but it works for them. And another good watch from the same production crew is American Dad, wich i think is better than family guy.
As for the simpsons not liking family guy, i think its quite obvious why!!!Simpsons you had your time, but when its over just admit it, they havnt had a good idea in years now, homer is dead...simpsons is simply desperate to be funny, they were the first animated comedy series to make their mark, and if they quit now they can still be marked as legendary-but thats only if they quit, FAMILY GUY IS A MILLION TIMES FUNNIER THAN THE SIMPSONS, AND THE SIMPSONS ARE JUST BEING SOUR LOSERS IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT FAMILY GUY! Simpsons have been replaced by family guy, homer by peter...etc...call it copying, but than again, whats new-everythings been done, all we can do is just improve on whats already been done...watch out for ACACIA GARDENS, IN A YEAR OR TWO-WHO KNOWS MAYBE WE´L THROW SOUTHPARK OUT-BT I DOUBT IT...SOUTH PARKS GENIUS!
