computer beeps?? wtf?

Ok...here's what happen. I was playing Quake3 like normally and stuff, then my computer itself (not the speakers) randomly started beeping continously. itd make a highpitch one then a lower then back to high, etc. Someone told me it might be the code letting me know it's overheating. Does anyone know 100% sure though what it could be? It freaked the crap out of me I'll tell you that much.

I think if you press 3 or more keys at the same time it'll beep

The codes are built into the computer to let you know whats wrong with it, my cousin's computer wasnt working but it was beeping the code for the video card. Check Google for whatever your motherboard is, and the beep codes it has.

what are your pc specs? sounds like overheating mine does that same hip pitch low pitch when it hot

System beeps, shouldn't be overheating on Quake 3 with that spec though.

Sounds most likely to be the keys you are pressing. The beeping Mist describes should only happen if there is an error at the point the computer is turned on.
