Author's Note: This is not too long after the episode where Benson and Stabler ask for new partners. Additionally this is a three way cross over. Law and Order SVU into Law and Order into Criminal Minds. (though Criminal Minds won't be introduced to far later)

In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of a elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories.

Prospect Pond
December 1st

It was the beginning of December and the Special Victims Unit was celebrating one of their toughest cases in which took several months to put a close to. The Assistant District Attorney had informed them on the jury's verdict, something they had been looking forward to for a few days now. They were getting anxious that it might become a hung jury, and that he would walk free on them when it took them restless days of looking for evidence where they could nail the guy, and it was hard to do, but they had done it nevertheless.

It was that time of year where they would have to go do last minute Christmas shopping for loved ones before it was too late to do so. Thanksgiving had just ended a few days before, and another holiday was coming up. Not only were people getting into the cheery festive mood, but for some reason they had a lot of cases during this part of the year. They did not know why either. It could have been simply it was close to the biggest holiday of the year, thinking that the cops were more lean back since they would be going home to families and friends.

Snow had started to fall earlier that evening, it didn't look like it was going to be a blizzard though, but it would be enough to cause accidents and other sorts of hazards, something that didn't fall under their line of duty. Special Victims Unit was a unit that dealt with sexually based crimes, having the victim either dead or alive. Sometimes the cases got difficult for them, and the tension would just build up until it exploded, resulting in things that they soon regret.

Right as the captain of SVU was about to turn off the light the phone rang, and one of the other detectives walked over to the phone to pick it up. Dressed in a black suit with a stripped tie, and tainted sunglasses, he looked at the others, shaking his head signaling that they weren't going anywhere. Once the caller was done, he hung up the phone, walking back to the others.

"No partying for us tonight." said the detective who answered the phone. "That was Detective Greene from Homicide. He thought we should go down to Prospect Pond to have a look at something."

"What kind of sex offense are we talking about?" asked the captain to the one who spoke.

The detective looked at the captain with a fairly grave face. The call he had just received was not about a sex crime, but it had to do with one. The guy's sister (the one who had been convicted) had been found dead just earlier, and she had testified against her brother. The detective named Benson had promised that she would be safe under witness protection, but apparently that did not work. The detective told them about the phone call.

"Why's Homicide calling us though?" asked the captain.

"It was our case that she was involved in, maybe they thought that we should handle it." responded the female cop, Olivia Benson who had red hair that did not go past her chin. The way she dressed was the opposite of the male detective who had the suit on. She had a red shirt and a black leather jacket that she had bought the previous year for herself.

"Doesn't matter." spoke another detective whose name was Elliot Stabler. "This isn't our case anymore. We hauled the guy's ass to jail. Our job doesn't entail Homicide when it has no rape or abuse signs at all."

"As much as I agree with Elliot on this, it is our duty nevertheless to make sure our witnesses are safe. In this case she was murdered. Stabler and Fin go down to where Greene is and see what you can find out."

"What's going on?" asked Fin looking at the captain. "Why isn't Olivia doing this one?"

"Apparently they both unanimously agree on having new partners." responded he to Fin.

"I'll explain in the car." said Stabler walking out of the station.

It was simple why they weren't partners anymore, but complex at the same time. It was one of their most emotional cases yet, and they both had put their lives first before the two kids, in which they were abducted.

It started out where they had gotten a phone call about the perp they were looking for who was getting money, and Stabler was telling the guy at the desk to tell him that he had gotten more money, something of that nature. The guy spotted the perp and soon became nervous. Stabler kept telling the guy not to look at him, not to speak to him but that did not work out at all. The perp looked around and saw the detectives, and he ran.

Stabler nor Benson could see the kids anywhere which frustrated them, but they knew that they had to be near by. Stabler had spotted the kid, and was telling the boy, Ryan to come to him, but his face was so pale white due to fright. The perp had a knife, and stabbed Benson, Stabler had shouted her name, and he ran to her instead of the boy.

Once she got up, they started to look for the perp once more. They went upstairs and noticed that everyone was crowded over something, which appeared to be the little boy who Stabler just saw.

It turned out that it was only a minor injury, and Stabler was pretty pissed of by that. Losing his temper he yelled at her for how he chose to make sure she was all right instead of the boy. Though he had known deep down that there was no way of him knowing that those events were going to happen like that.

Later in the case they found a break in the case which led them to a warehouse in which they suspected the perp to be. Stabler signaled them to split up, in which they did. Benson had her gun out, checking around every corner, and not too long later, she dives shooting her gun at the perp though it didn't hit him. The perp held a gun at Stabler's head, threatening his life. They had already called for back up so Olivia had thought that stalling would do them good. Stabler had kept shouting though for her to shoot him, but Benson refused. The perp said that she was dead, but Benson kept saying that he could walk out alive if he told her where she was. Lying the perp said that she was in a trunk of a vehicle, or something of that nature, but Stabler had said that he was lying, which Benson knew already.

A SWAT member was hiding behind something, having his sniper trained on the perp. It had happened so fast it had frighten both Benson and Stabler when the sniper went off. Now they did not know where the kid was since the perp couldn't speak. They did not know whether or not the perp was alive or dead, but Benson had heard noises and told everyone to be quiet. They had found the girl miraculously.
