I don't consider Kylie Minogue to be a musician, because she's not. I consider her to be a general entertainer. Same with all those people.

Elvis played instruments and played his music live, so he is a musician. The fact that he didn't write his own songs is something that detracts from my opinion of him.

But I guess you consider George Jones, one of the best singers of all time, someone who could sing with more emotion then 99% of singers, to not be a true artist? Even though in a way he MADE the songs with the emotions he could evoke with his voice.

Considering you rating him that high is subjective, I don't agree on how good you believe he was. That said, yes, it detracts from my opinion of him.

I'd never deny that Elvis was a good singer and what not, but I'm not about to give him more credit than he deserves.

Uh, he is still alive and making records.

The man is almost universaly accepted as the best country singer. But yes, it's always subjective. But that wasn't what my post was about, I was asking if you consider him a true artist. Mind, there is such a thing as a bad artist.
