The Soul gem is also a part of him. Even if he tried to remove it now, it would be pretty difficult. It's like a symbiotic relationship. The soul gem sucks on Warlocks life energies while Warlock uses the Soul Gems other powers to compensate that loss of energy. Not to mention the Soul Gem has a bunch of unique powers it offers Warlock in trade for his life force.
Anything but a fistfight in the octagon Warlock wins. Many times he's defeated (though not beaten up) people who are bigger and stronger tha he is in physical confrontations. The only time post-ressurection he's needed to resort to a soul rip against someone because he was overmatched physically was against the Thanos/Gladiator Clone-Hybrid. 'Nuff Said

and of course hercules! he kicked his friggin' arse. 馃槈
it's interesting how everyone simply seems to have assumed his gem's powers would get through juggs' shield. i'm not as confident. s'why i pitted these 2 against each other. adam wins every fight because he sucks a soul (though he almost NEVER does it in comics . . .) and juggs never loses because nothing gets through his shield. juggs' shield effortlessly withstood thor's godblast and attacks by strange. why is everyone so sure the gem would get through it so easily?
To be sure, it's not a given that Adam could substantially harm Cain. OTOH, Adam can pick a stalemate at his discression if for no other reason than he can fly. Cain's only sure win is if Adam's feeling cocky and comes within arm's reach for some strange reason, as when he jobbed to Herc. Otherwise, he'll be reduced to throwing crap ar Adam, wich shouldn't work to well.
Adam's got such a wide bag of tricks, that if the forcefie'd is not a defense against his attacks Cain's in trouble. Or for that matter, if he drops it to pick up a tree to hurl at Adam or similar, Adam could tag him. Being the Juggernaut, Adam would still have to resort to a more oblique attack of some sort to win. Just the same, unless Adam fights stupid the best Cain can hope for is a stalemate.
