Lil Bitchiness> Christianity did not arise out of a void of course. It was most likely based on Zoroastrianism and borrowed heavily from Egyptian myths as well.

The image I have attached is not Mary and baby Jesus. It's an ancient painting from an Egyptian temple of the goddess Isis and baby Horus...

Now thats interesting!

Also, while we're talking about Hinduism, Jesus also had an alarmingly similar life to Krishna.

Krishna was born of virgin mother, he was also healer and teacher, also a God, he was also betrayed and killed by people who deemed him as false prophet who claimed he was a god....hmmm....

Aww, it's soo adorable....

True, there are many pictures like this in older religions as well. They sure do look like Mary and Jesus, but are NOT.

Also, though OT, this is a picture of Zeus........Sure looks a lot of Jesus too...

Good link on Horus....quite simular.

It’s easy to conclude, that Christianity arose as a mixture of other, older, religions. As Lil says, the life of Jesus bears resemblance to the life of Krishna, and also to the life and teachings of Buddha (resisting temptation before reaching enlightenment etc).
Jesus looks like Jupiter…
Most importantly… There is NO archaeological evidence to show Jesus EVER lived. Why did contemporary Greek and Roman scholars not mention him with a SINGLE word??

What’s interesting is actually WHY this small sect became so popular in the 4th Century.
Another story…

Hinduism…

hmmm Jesus also resembles that Greek person...i dont remember the name but he also had the ability to heal people. he came much before Jesus.

i'll look into it, sorry i forgot the name 😬

Joseph Campbell's The Hero With A Thousand Faces. Excellent read on the similarity of myth across cultures/faiths.

Some similarities are so striking that Campbell and current day mythologists and psychologists have suggested they represent more than just traveler's tales. They reflect (Jungian) archetypes: universal structures in the human psyche, aspects of a collective unconscious, an unconscious, in some ways, closer to the Truth than is the conscious mind.

The Hero Myth, in all its variations, represents the striving to connect with the Profound.

Interesting. Jung huh??....Never heard that, and I like Jung. He seems to have his stuff together.

Erm....i dont think you got the story right. He was definately wasnt betrayed and killed.

Kali is the coolest mythological character in my opinion.

She is cooler than Zeus, Apollo, Athena, Lucifer, and Yahweh combined

Hinduism is older.

Usually, when statements like "world's oldest organized religion" are made, it's usually with reference to the 5 major thriving faiths. Unlike Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam however, Hinduism was not founded by a person. My understanding is that it kind of "evolved" out of earlier forms of religious regard humans held for nature, themselves, life and death.

Actually, it is unknown the precise details of the origin of Hinduism, because it is so old.
