We're comparing apples to oranges here. I've got nothing against the Bambino...God rest his soul. But, most historians and baseball analysts old and young alike state the level of pitching back then, outside of a handful of pitchers, sucked.I say so what then. There are thousands of hi schoolers each year that throw hi 80s to low 90s that never go anywhere today. In that era, these high schoolers would be gods. Ruth didn't face any competition, nor should this not be a knock against him however. But, let's call a spade a spade.
^Exactly...

nah...i was just asking why dude said "In my mind he is still the true homerun king." hank aaron hit 30+(not sure) homers more than the bambino in a tougher era but unfortunately that's not enough for mr. parker.
as for bonds...
im talkin bout how that b*tch ass houston astros pitcher tried to hit Bonds 3 times before he finally connected
the manager and pitcher should be suspended and fined HEAVILY.
and then get their asses beat
ain't shit changed
Are you serious? Aaron did not hit in a tougher era. When Ruth played there were just as many hall of fame pitchers. Besides Josh Gibson is a better argument than Aaron. Aaron's career slugging percentage was .555, Ruth was .690, Aaron's OPS .928 Ruth's 1.164, Aaron's batting average was .305 Ruth's .342. Ruth was a better hitter than Aaron. Gibson's batting average was between .350 and .384, he hit 84 home runs in one season, in one season he hit over .400 and his slugging percentage was over 1.000.
As for Bonds come on. He was a hall of fame player before the 'roids. He wanted extra attention so he juiced. But like the best hitter in baseball, perhaps since Ted Williams, said you still have to see the ball and hit the ball. By the way that is Albert Pujols.

STOP calling people racists that do not agree with you. You do not know true racism. Someone disagreeing with you does not make them a racist because they think a white player is or was better than a black player or vice versa. That is unnecessary and makes discussion very difficult if that is used every time someone disagrees with you.

First, I'm pretty sure I know KMC a bit better than you and know that any discussion is pretty serious. If you think this board is anything but serious then I suggest you take a hike.
You seriously need to be more clear in your statements, especially considering Mr. Parker clearly stated why he thought Ruth was the true homerun king. He had never said it was because he was white.
I think it's a pretty racist comment on yourself to insuinate that he based his decision on race. Considering he has clearly told this board on why he thought Ruth was the best.
"WTF!!! Racism"?
How can we not think that your calling him an racist, when the clear way of saying it is, "Do you think Ruth better because he's white"?

Babe Ruth was great and a legend in his timeperiod. And to this day his name is legend. But Hank Arron deserves just as much credit for being a legend in his own right and breaking Babe Ruth's record. Doesn't matter what colour the player's skin was.
I completely agree with you.
