Revan could take down Bane based on what exactly?
-We do know he defeated Star Forge empowered Darth Malak multiple times.
-He was known to call down lightning from the sky to kill his enemies (Proof Rakatan's account)
-The knowlege he gained at Malachor was substantial. Traya herself was able to use that knowledge to develop an instantkill technique, born of the darkside (A move from which there is no defense).
-He possessed Echani precognition beyond the scope of Echani elders (people who could foresee the outcome of wars). This also enables to see his enemies attacks before they make them. This would definately benefit him in a lightsaber duel.
All of Bane's abilities were in the company of OTHER sith lords. He hasn't singlehandedly demonstrated any great powers as Revan has. Zannah is a non factor.

Inconclusive thread. Bane was the most heavily respected Sith Lord (and he was feared the most) from the most warlike time in Star Wars history. Above that, we don't know much about him until the novels come out. But I'd say his reputation was better, given his era.
It can be very much inconclusive for both of them then. Revan went into the outer regions to fight the ancient Sith. There is obviously a great amount of power to be had from that venture.
However from current knowledge, Revan is the clear victor, no?
