Wolverine vs ??????

yeah, there are too many to name. the reason for the controversy is simple: he often manages to hang with or even beat characters that are much stronger than he is and that pisses off a lot of people who don't like wolverine. thing is, it is often the same 'type' of character he hangs with. imo wolvie will almost always have at least a SMALL chance against anyone who simply stands there and brawls with him. i mean goes h2h -- no weapons, no flight, no blasts. characters like hulk or thing or sasquatch or abomination or wendigo or . . . etc. they are brawlers and though they have good durability they can and HAVE been hurt repeatedly by wolvie whose claws have been proven over and over again (despite what people think should be logical) to be able to cut through nearly anything and wolvie has in general been shown to have great durability himself.

characters with good versatility or a way to evade or attack from long range, have a definite advantage over wolvie if they fight with a brain. characters like storm or ironman or . . . etc. that's also why i think spidey wins the majority over wolverine. against powerful brawlers though, wolvie will usually have a chance. despite how much people refuse to accept it. the proof, after all, is in the comics. 😉

*to Kharmadog* These are people who could beat Wolverine that aren't obvious. 😉 So that means no Superman, Martian Manhunter, Magneto, etc...

I think what pisses people off is, once again, the incosistancy of the character. One moment he is reeling from hits by caps, DD or other guys at that level, then he alll of a sudden can take a hit from Hulk or Sasquatch.

One minute a bullet knocks him down, the next minute people mention instances where he has reguvinated from a drop of blood or survived a nuclear blast.

It's just that he's become a ridiculous character. I would hazard to guess that people who used to love the original character are some of the most disappointed in his current persona.

most any heavy hitter with out a healing factor or superhuman speed will lose to logan if they have to go h2h.

who ever said night crawler could defeat logan is incorrect.

spiderman can beat wolverine the majority depending on the eviorment. Now in other eviorments he would lose to wolverine the majority.

It hard to say. Some people who have long range can defeat logan while others can't. People like storm, iron man of course can.

Most street levelers though can't. Actaully I can't think of a single street level character who would take the majority with out prep. I don't think spiderman or wolverine are street level.

See, and I'm not so sure about that.
I mean, Wolverine's become essentially weaker in some areas where he wasn't before.. the one thing that's increased over the years is his healing factor's capabilities. But other than that, the original incarnation of the character (the first dozen or so appearances) showed him to be incredibly powerful.

Taking down the wendigo in his first appearance.
Getting slammed to the ground y hulk with a "shattering" force and springing right back into battle..
being so fast and agile neither wendi nor hulk could touch him.
taking 2 direct blasts from firelord without going down.
Being torched by starfire without so much as a singe.
Taking a full hit fro colosus without a care in the world.
Taking down a demon who no sold the combined efforts of cyclops, storm, nightcrawler, and colosus.
Disappearing in broad daylight in front of nightcrawler not 7 feet away.
breaking out of unbreakable chains...

And most of those feats were before it was revealed he had an adamntium skeleton OR a healing factor. Before they were even written into his character.

He's been dulled down in a lot of ways.. his healing factor seems to be the only thing going up. 😬
