What you also fail to realize, Hokage, is that battle droids on the ground don't matter much in the grand sceme of things.
Lets say you have 50,000,000,000 battle droids and I have 1,000,000,000 storm troopers. You are probably going to beat me if I try to engage you on the ground. In this case, I will simply BDZ the planet and you just lost 50,000,000,000 droids and I didn't lose a single trooper if I kept my men in my ships, as a good commander would. See my point?
The Empire WILL KILL them in space. I know the CIS has millions of ships. The Empire has 25,000 ISD, but they have over 25,000,000 other ships and they have the ability to produce 90,000,000 ships every eight days if they wish to.

Those things cost millions of credits. Even still, the Empire has cloaking devices. They can go into the system cloaked and then drop the shield when they are at the right range and blast the crap out of the people before they can fire back. Plus, it actually takes multiple shots to destroy an ISD. The one in ESB had it's shields down because they were sending out drop ships.

"This turbolaser was powerful enough to blast an Imperial-class Star Destroyer into pieces."
