Would it be smart for every American to learn Spanish?

In college, my Spanish teacher actually cried in front of the class when I failed to excel in learning Spanish. It led me to wonder if she knew something that I didn't. The only thing I think it could mean is that one day Mexican Americans will destroy all other Americans who don't speak Spanish to claim back their land. However, if one shows an effort to learn or have learned Spanish, then he or she may be allowed to live, as long as they are using Spanish for purposes other than evil. Because my teacher liked me and did not want to see me die, maybe that is why she cried.

There's no point in learning any foreign language, especially if you will not be taking any trips where that specific language is used. We're required to take French 1 and 2 in High School (I'm almost out of French 2 now), but I see no point in it. I'm never going to freaking France or Quebec, Canada! People should have the option to stick with their native language UNLESS they know that they will be traveling elsewhere where that language is used fluently.

Study of forgien languages can be a very rewarding subject. Not only does it show collages that you have the intelligence and drive to succeed but it is also very handy to have on hand.

To bring up another point, it's also not a very good thing to learn a foreign language especially if you are NOT going to college. Let me put it this way, if you're not doing anything related to anything foreign, I see no point in it--let's just put it that way. 😉

a mi, si es 😖hifty:

Learning other languages is always a good thing but it shouldn't be required. English should be the official language of the US.

And as for it being "their land" (Mexicans), what a crock. What is now the southwest US was only part of Mexico for a very few years. Before that it was a Spanish colony. Before that it was Indian land. Is Mexico going to give the Indians back "their land"?

I agree it's ours now, we won it fair and square. Y no me importa lo que piensan los emigres ilegales.

As for the mexicans ever killing the people who don't speak spanish to take it back.... Well, I don't think that Mexico will ever be in a position to even think about a full scale war with the States.

Of course it shouldn't be required, since English is the language of the land. But it wouldn't be a bad idea at all, since it's [Spanish] the #2 language in the US. Job opportunities are better if you're bilingual, so it certainly would be a plus for your benefit.

My sis talking...she knows a guy called "chapa" because he steals cars and I heard a humorous phrase from her. I do not know the meaning of it but all I know it sounds funny...."se comio un camion de marcha atras" ?????

comio a reverse gear truck ?

Yes "ate"

🤨 😕 The grammar is awful, and the sentence doesn't make any sense.

Es ist eine gute Sache, zum zweisprachig zu sein. Erlernensprachen können Spaß und sehr nützliches sein. Ich kann Deutsches fließend sprechen und bin gewesen, da ich ungefähr 9 Jahre alt war.

Is that so? I actually picked up a lot of German when I was in the Army. 😎
