The minority? Which game has more representatives than Pokemon? Mario, and that's it, and that only by one (two if you count Wario), but at least that makes sense. Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are the three series that made Nintendo famous, and while Zelda indeed has four characters, Metroid only has one. And on top of that, you want more Pokemon?
Pikachu I can live with, because it's famous enough to earn a spot. But Mewtwo was unnecessary, and we really don't NEED any more new ones. Let's focus on the obscure and underrated games, please.

You can add in like the bounty hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters. That would be seven characters.

And yeah Mewtwo might have been a bit much, but I like him. Pichu really isn't necessary because he has the same moves as Pikach except whenever he uses his he hurts himself in the process. But I wouldn't mind others. Not random ones like diglett or magikarp(ha). But like Meowth, squirtle,bulbasaur,charmander or anyone of their evolutions, etc.
They could even just start off with the basic pokemon and let them be able to evolve while in battle since they're adding all these special attacks and stuff. That would be good and wouldn't take up space with each evolution taking up a character space all its own.
