Oh okay. I expected the poll to be much bigger too, that's also why I misunderstood you.
Well, the poll itself was much bigger, actually. It's just that I only posted the characters in the poll who had gotten 2 or more votes (the rest that weren't mentioned only got 1 vote).

Well to be honest, even though I'm not good with him, I don't mind having Game & Watch in the game.
Ah well. At least Pichu's gone. It was pretty much to be expected, and to think several people actually argued tooth and nail for that Pikachu clone to come back...
Mewtwo on the other hand had an original moveset, so there's no excuse/explanation for his exclusion. I didn't pay much attention to Mewtwo (like I did Ridley) before the roster leak either because I assumed Sakurai wouldn't be moronic enough to give him the boot and include more characters with cloned movesets over the likes of him. Boy, was I wrong. lol
When I first saw how much they beefed up Bowser's stats, I was hoping they would do the same to Mewtwo and others, but instead, he got kicked, and other guys like Ganondorf got nerfed much more than in Melee. Ganondorf's slower this time, and most of his attacks (like his side B move) leave him open for attack for a few seconds after executing a move. Even Dedede's faster than Ganondorf, which is kinda sad when ya think about it. 😬
And apparently (according to people who have already extensively played the game), Samus (in Varia Suit) is one of the worst characters in the game, and Zero Suit Samus is one of the best. That's about some of the most damning evidence there is about Sakurai regarding sex-hungry idiots over true Metroid fans.
Samus (in Varia Suit) probably would've still been one of my main characters if she turned out to be competitive again, but she simply isn't in so many ways.
To make things worse, they beefed up Marth's stats (who was more than versatile enough in Melee) even more. One of the cheapest characters in Melee is even more cheap now. The only thing Samus needed nerfed was her neutral air attack, which I admit was downright dirty. Sakurai somehow found Marth to pass his standards of balance while he felt the need to make Varia Samus dangerously close to useless (probably in an attempt to get everyone to resort to using ZSS).
Honestly Sakurai, if there is a next time, get someone who actully knows jack about Metroid, and never whore out Samus like this again just to boost Metroid sales in Japan, now matter how happy it makes your employers.
Meh. With Samus being ruined like that, that leaves Wolf for me without question, but I'm not gonna play as him anymore than I need to because of his annoying Texan accept. I guess that's where Snake, Bowser, and Diddy Kong come in (for me anyway).

If you don't know who that is, wiki him. Now 131 (and yes. He created Game&Watch, among other things).

I guess he's basically the "wtf" character for Brawl, but I look forward to trashing that pile of scrap when the game comes out. 😄

Still, there's a good chance that a Mega Man game (possibly Mega Man 6) might at least get mentioned under Chronicles. I wonder they'll have games released in PAL regions in the list too.

Apparently I don't know much about Lucario as I thought. 😖 For someone whose not really into Pokemon anymore, you've sure done your homework. 😛
Nonetheless, thanks for pointing that out. 👆

If you call "less than two minutes to wiki Lucario and grab a paragraph off of a page" homework. 😛 And while I'm still not into Pokemon, Lucario's Brawl incarnation interests me.
Also, I'm amused that I posted that this afternoon, knowing full well as I did that you'd call me out on not liking Pokemon. 😉

Would you happen to have details on Samus' nerfs?... I <3 Chozo Suit Samus but from all the mess I'm hearing I might have to find someone else it seems

Me neither, actually (I don't have anything against Game&Watch myself). Was just using him as an example. He's a likable good character and all, but having someone obscure like him (and others like him who most never even heard of until Brawl and Melee) over guys like Mewtwo? ermm That's where they crossed the line (and I'm not just speaking for myself when I say that).

True. I heard he was included in Melee to begin with in honor of Gunpei Yokoi.

*shrugs* R.O.B. never appealed to me to begin with (not even in Mario Kart DS), and I never saw him being talked about or suggested before the roster was revealed, so naturally, I sat there dumbfounded when I saw him playable.

I'm just curious...how do you know the differences between the Melee and Brawl characters when the games comes out Sunday? I know you said you heard it from some people but who? Like people in Gamefaqs or something? Because someone in Gamefaqs once posted all the Brawl past stages (Melee stages) and the original ones and showed what's different about them and b!tched and if people b!tch at something like that...

Yeah, I noticed that. They always put the least expected character in the game.

What? That's crazy! Why the heck would people want a suicidal character like Pichu? I'm still puzzled over why he was even in Melee in the first place.

😆 I understand where you're coming from because I felt the same way about Mega Man. I actually didn't think much about him being in Brawl up until now because I figured he'd be in anyway. Also, like you, I didn't expect them to remove Mewtwo either. I see absolutely NO excuse for that.

I honestly can't imagine Gannondorf being any slower than he was in Melee. Well I won't be using him often anymore.

I've seen some videos of Marth and alot of people say his Final Smash is pretty cheap too. I'm a Marth player myself so I don't know if I should be upset or glad. I also heard that they nerfed Fox because he's lighter now. I'm good with Fox too but they kind they messed him up a little bit in Melee because he was so light that I had more of a challenge to trying to keep up with him than trying to win the match. If they made Fox any lighter, then they've completely ruined him. He was much better in the first Smash Bros. game.

Same here. It's like they just stuck him in there because they couldn't think of anybody else. Then again, characters that so many people wanted, like
Spoiler:, Little Mac (who I REALLY wanted as a playable character), Lyn, Stafy, are all ATs so if that's the case, I can understand why.

I was surprised to see games like Kung Fu, Popeye, and Rad Racer on the list, since Kung Fu and Rad Racer are made by different companies and Popeye characters not even made by them.
Yes, really. R.O.B. was what got the NES into American stores in 85. After the crash nobody wanted to lose mountains of money on yet more video games, but Nintendo used R.O.B. to play the NES off as a "robot toy." The idea worked, the NES got into stores, and by the end of its first year Nintendo had sold one million systems.
Well the reason I say 'no' is because the crash is a purely North American phenomenon and with games thriving in the rest of the world I very much doubt they would never have come back. Just Nintendo got there first.
So yeah, I agree with all the statements made save that last point.
For much of the world, ROB was a totally failed gimmick.

I would say that ROB was a totally successful failed gimmick. Nintendo never intended for it to become important, it was simply a Trojan horse of sorts to gain a foothold in the American market.
But the point is ROB is important and has a legitimate reason for being in Brawl, not the throwaway fighter that "stole" the spot of everyone's favorite character that didn't get in.

You have to look at the whole world in perspective, to much of the world he never existed or if he did, failed miserably.
