Sooory 'bout that. I'll add you to my buddy list here and throw down with you sometime.

Yeah let me know when you get your hands on it so we can go at it bro.

Character wise, you are right about one of those characters. He's my main fighter.

But I'll have to surprise you when we fight.

No problem, it'll have to wait for awhile, my internet sucks for online gaming.

I agree, however I humor those who wish to have these presets, andI usually win, but to me, it feels like it sucks the fun out of SSBB.

I don't understand tiers, what are they?

Yeah tiers are retarded.

So are people who ONLY play on Final Destination.

And people who refuse to play with items.

why in the hell is mario above lucas anyway?
he wasnt that great in SSBB imo...certainly far less useful than in melee..

Tiers are a list/ranking of characters based on their usefulness mostly in a fighting game. That list says that if two players of absolutely equal skill then the one who chose Metaknight would have an incredibly easier/better chance at beating the other guy who chose Captain Falcon.

Yeah. F.L.U.D.D. is pretty useless compared to his Down+B move in Melee.

As for the thing about Final Destination, it's actually one of my favorite stages. Not because I'm a tourneyfag or anything to that effect, but because it's one of the only stages in the game that doesn't have those annoying background/environmental hazards, and the floor never breaks either. I hate it when opponents win just because of that, or when I get hit by those cannons in that one level. Melee had more of a variety between those kind of stages and Final Destination-esque stages. 'tis part of why I like it better than Brawl, aside from it not having that retarded "tripping" feature used to help casuals, and tilt moves being more useful in that game, whereas in Brawl, they don't stun the opponent, except for Snake's.
I was never much of a wavedasher or anything though, so that stuff not being in Brawl didn't really affect me, but Melee was still a better game all around IMO (especially when you compare the Event Matches of the 2 games and what not). Too bad it didn't have online.

And I like how ((The_Anomaly)) ended up being right earlier in this thread about Brawl not getting game of the year (congrats to MGS4). Granted, I think I would still be playing Brawl if it had voice chat and didn't have one of the laggiest online modes I've ever experienced, but with SCIV and other games I have on the 360 now, this game's obsolete. It had a good run though (while it lasted), but surprisingly low replay value in the end.

funny, the only lag issues i ever experienced was whenever i tried to play as ike 😬

Why is Yoshi so low on the tier list if he's such a great match-up against Metaknight, who is the highest on the tier list? Oh, I forgot. Tiers are based only on tournament data, which means a character won't rise unless he's/she's used frequently in tournaments and win most of his/her matches. Since most tournament players play to win, it's very likely that they'll just use characters high on the tier list, leaving the low-tier characters at the bottom.

Tiers shouldn't exist.

Its because his bad matchups outweigh his good matchups.. its not to suggest to people "hey, dont ever play yoshi".. its just letting people know that should they choose to main yoshi in a serious setting.. that they will have a fairly difficult time (which some may find appealing, others not so much).. I mean hell.. I play samus and she's pretty far down there.. I even played her at some wacky tournament that mcdonalds hosted just up the street... I lost to metaknight unfortunately, who wound up getting 1st place, but I most certainly gave it all I had.. its just that metaknight was able to go underneath the stage entirely and come up on the other side, and still nail me and send me across the other side of the stage and off the map.. I'd go so far as to say he's probably the most broken tournament-legal character I've ever seen

I dont think its fair to say that people will always pick those high on the tier list, because there are a good amount of people who are probably at this very moment, practicing with their favorite lower tier character in hopes of putting them on the map.. thus this list will be revised many times

Well, we'll all have different experiences with the online. For me though, Brawl lagged at least 80% of the time regardless of the character I chose. Haven't had that kind of problem with most other online games.

The F.L.U.D.D.'s only purpose is edge-guarding. It's useless for almost everything else.

Well, that's what it's telling to tournament fighters. Do you think that a tournament player who's serious about winning would spend their time trying to perfect a character who's low on a tier list? I doubt it. If there's ever a tournament with a prize of 1 million dollars, then I guarantee that there won't be a low-tier or middle-tier character on the roster since the players want to win that money at all costs.

Like I said, tiers shouldn't exist. Rather than having a list of the characters based on how well they're built, the players should just rely on their own skills rather than picking a character with more advantages than the other characters.

The players should find out for themselves which characters are better suited for them, and not rely on tiers just to find out who have a better chance of winning. Because of tiers, we're constantly seeing the same characters in tournaments. I can understand if someone picks a top-tier character because they've been a fan of that character for a while, but there are people who pick top-tier characters just to give them the edge in battle and love the satisfaction of winning with ease. It's much more impressive when someone is deadly with low-tier characters since they're "suppose" to have bad match-ups.

I get tired of people saying "I lost only because I have a low-tier character" or "you won only because you have a high-tier character" because it's annoying. People who are obsessed with tiers are annoying, too.

There are plenty of other tournament-legal characters that are more broken than Metaknight. Trust me...

Well, hardcore gamers and tournament players will almost always pick characters high on the tier lists since they want to win. Since the majority of the people who signs up for tournaments have the goal of winning the tournament, they would rather increase their chances by using top tier characters instead of the characters on the bottom. It seems like the only players who have enough patience to train with low-tier characters are the players who's favorite characters are low-tier, such as Captain Falcon fans and Link fans.

*shudders*...brawl link 😘

awesome custom stage 😄

P3J0O5UEL8w&feature=related

That is a pretty sweet stage.

I'll look up my brawl code when I get home later Mel and we'll fight sometime. I have a feeling your pretty good.

prepare to be very disappointed...
dont get me wrong, ive had my moments, but its more of a random burst of inexplicable awesome, rather than actual controlled skill 😛

what people are going to do, even if tiers didn't exist, would be to pick the best possible strategy with the best possible character... which in essence would be creating a tier any way

Tiers just are...its still within the game whether or not people want to accept that is obviously their choice

And I whole-heartedly agree, which is why every time I see a metaknight vs (whoever) battle.. I root for (whoever), because I know what they're up against

if its a question of sportsmanship.. people dont run around saying that (unless of course its in a discussion type of setting such as this one).. cuz if they are hardcore.. they already know the match-ups before they battle, this goes for both upper and lower tier players

Also, you may get tired of hearing it.. but had you entered in a 1 million dollar contest with Yoshi and get beat out by Falco or Snake.. you'd probably be irritated that it probably took less skill for that player to defeat you

any examples?

I enjoy brawl plenty.. but people need to have more respect for each other, Such as those who play to just have fun (such as with items, or crazy stages) and those who actually play seriously (Non-hazardous stages w/ no items) because regardless of how we have fun.. we're still having fun... So if you don't want to get involved in the tier discussion, then don't.. no ones pulling your leg.. but I see no reason for all of the hating

Awesome match

Toon Link vs Meta Knight
check out the awesomeness @ 2:25 - 2:28

nice use of bombs to prevent edge guarding 😄

That was a pretty good match.

If tiers didn't exist, the player would try out some of the character to see which one he/she is better suited with.

Since tiers are around, most competitive gamers and tournament players would just start from the top of the tier list to see which top-tier character they can master while refusing to spend their time trying to get good with a low-tier character.

Well...it shouldn't be known to the public. Let the players find out for themselves which character are built better by trying them out.

Some of the people I played against in the past said that kind of stuff, and most of them were fans of the low-tier and/or middle-tier characters. They're casual players, but they knew about the match-ups and tiers and whatnot.

Yep, it's very annoying when a person wins by using a character that doesn't require much skill. Then again, I'm pretty sure most high-tier characters don't require much skill to master them. Metaknight is a perfect example since most of his moves are spammable with high priority.

Well, I do have a slight habit of getting into discussions about things I don't like, such as MTV and porn. I just feel like expressing my opinions about it, but I'm not the kind of person who's constantly rants about something while sounding like a broken record.

Fair enough..

And lol @ Ivan Ooze.. I never thought anyone would take that game seriously 😆

well the best part was that if you look inside the lil off-camera bubble.. toon link throws a bomb while he's off the screen, and hits one of the balloons allowing him to recover back onto the stage

its pure luck, but its still pretty cool

We should all throw down some time. We need a kmc tournament.
