Winding down in 2009? All the last-gen consoles lasted a good 5+ years and we are just now entering year 2 of the Wii & PS3.

4 years for the Xbox almost to the day and 5 years almost to the day for the Wii. The software sales start to wind down between the 12-6 months before the new console is released. I assume sales will follow as they have always followed and hit their peak at about the 2 to 3 year mark and wind down afterwards...I used wind down and not "a screeching halt" for a reason.
Who knows, software sales may stay way up there the entire time and not really skip a beat as the sales transfer to the nex-gen consoles but I don't see very many really big titles coming up for 2009...so it appears that we will hit the peak this year.

Well the PS2 lasted what? 7 years or so. Third party developers are just now starting to create exclusive games for the Wii. And as for games coming out in 2009...well we still haven't heard anything about a Wii Star Fox game so it may come out 08-09.
Note that I did not use Sony. Their stuff lasts a long time. I sure as hell hope that they do come out with another console in 2010/2011.
