I think a lot of "mainstream" music such as whats on mtv, because so much of it is so superficial, being mostly about the plastic "look" people can obtain. Im not saying a lot of the popular pop and rap stars have zero talent, but i dont see much depth and creativity in their music. And a lot of these people get way more recognition then of other real musicians that i think are far more deserving.. I mean so many people cant even play instruments, just can sing fairly well and have the "act" down. A lot of these "mainstream" stars even sell products for corporations, which i think is sickening. I love listening to music that is different, creative, and deep, and even political.. not just simply whats "in".

Emo (as previously said in this thread) stands for Emotional/Emotive Hardcore. Hardcore developed from punk, 'emo' developed from hardcore...
