What is Rock and Roll ?

I know this sounds less like a Philosophy question and more of a music one... but it isn't.

What do you consider rock and Roll or what is it too you.

It's more of a feeling , just very fast , loud almost like a drawn out scream .

Any other opinions/ideas ?

Rock and Roll is a style of music popularised in the 50's. Most music today is not Rock and Roll. Although pop culture uses the term, it really does not describe modern music. Rock and Roll means to swing with a beat. Bands like The Beatles and later Led Zeppelin started a style of music that is Rock. Most modern music is related to Rock more then Rock and Roll

You should read a good book on the topic. Believe it or not, there is some really great music from the 50's and 60's. I've recently started getting into 40's music. Frank Sinatra is amazing.

Rock and Roll can make ones mood elevate or decline......it sooths the soul........It's linked to memories..........and also feelings............Music is one of the greatest things that has happened to man kind.

Rock & Roll, is any type of music, that blends guitar, bass, drums, possibly keyboard, and possibly any other type of instrument, and a lead singer with a sense of freedom.

rock n roll is many things and cannot be explained as it means different things to different people.

Rock and roll, in the musical sense, is exactly what Shakyamunison said. From an emotional or spiritual point of view, rock and roll is more than just a bunch of individuals with "a sense of freedom"... Rock and roll IS freedom.
