Reverence is an important part of the human psyche and raining on everyone's parade is no way to get ahead in politiks (which is what all public communication boils down to). Since we are still tribal animals, mocking an in-group celebration does nothing but certify that you are an outsider. Couching such posturing in the language of progressivism does real harm to your overarching political goals with no benefit to you.
Granted, the event itself is ridiculous in the extreme. But don't you treat a brand-new disk differently than an old one? Or have a different attitude when buffing up for a boss you've never fought before? Just because your in-group isn't as showy (or as flagrantly wasteful) doesn't mean your rituals are any less absurd.
Also, Tribalism isn't a bad thing; it doesn't produce famine, genocide, or poverty--as does civilization.
In closing, the Super Bowl may be dumb, but ridiculing the secular holiday with the most cultural inertia is unlikely to get you anything other than a knuckle sandwich (in the conservative area where I live).
Yea, I agree with RH....strangely Looking down at certain customs with a holier than thou attitude makes you seem incredibly insecure, and will earn you an ass beating. Right now you're in the smacking my balls across your face territory, Janus. Also, please don't present yourself as that horrible coffee shop looking down on everyone else stereotype because you're better than that... But yea, balls to the face.
Spoiler:
Underlying premise, Janus can't possibly be joking. Therefore, launch into preachy stance!
Relax. It -was- a joke. Being all touchy because I joked at the expense of a winning team in a culturally accepted holiday assumes a great deal about my post. And if I wanted to really troll you all, I'd have posted pictures. I can't pass up a good reason to do that.
In any case, if that was a group of gaming nerds patting and kissing a beta copy of Half-Life 3 or Halo Infinite, I can justifiably criticize them or harass them as being not an outsider, and furthermore it's highly unlikely that any of them can whup my ass.
Also, I don't hang out in coffee shops. That shit is expensive.

Not sure how you expected us to take your post sarcastically because it sounded very serious and consistent with what people on forums would typically say.

But for what it's worth, that was the rudimentary transcript of a rant I levied at a nerdy-friend of mine, upon his complaints RE: football in general. (Naturally, I was slightly less pretentious at the time.)
I thought that I'd made amends for constantly calling you out on shit? In case there are still bad memories (of me being bitchy at a statistically significant level), have a picture of a Darth Vader.

First off "they" can be anyone. Secondly, there was a huge backlash because Koman's decision was obviously political. Consider that the regulation that requires them not to "deal" with organizations under congressional investigation, was cooked up as an excuse to dump PP. Not to mention that Karen "I do not support the mission of Planned Parenthood" Handel ran on an anti PP campaign for governor of Georgia only to become VP of Koman.
Karen Handel clearly doesn't support a woman's right to chose and considering the BS excuse Koman gave for dropping PP? It was a political move that pissed a lot of people off.
Maybe YOU should start thinking.
