I liked the NJO.

It got a little - okay, quite - convoluted/sucky/repetitive after the first few novels, but it's still a BILLION times better than LotF. That $h!t's really weak, and too predictable. Nullifies the entire purpose of the "Chosen One"....

If you don't want anything to nullify the Chosen One's purpose, then ROTJ should be the end of everything for anyone. 😛

Meh, GL specifically says Anakin's purpose is to destroy himself and the Emperor. He doesn't say to end the Sith for "all time" or anything. NJO can slide by on a technicality, although I think the series should be buried with Jimmy Hoffa and given the same amount of rights.

I don't understand the hate geared towards the NJO. I thought it was refreshing, because they weren't just fighting some new Sith or Dark Jedi or the Imperials.

Anakin Skywalker's purpose is a bit more than just destroying Darth Vader and the Emperor. His ultimate goal is to "bring balance to the Force" and to actually do that, the Sith must be removed. Lucas has said that by killing the Emperor, balance was restored, and to him, the Sith are "dead".

I personally like to think that Jacen Solo, Lumiya, Darth Krayt and the 'New Sith' are all self-proclaimed wannabes. I mean, realistically, if they are 'true Sith Lords', it doesn't take much to become one, does it? Hell, I could dress up in a Batman cape, grab a plastic lightsaber, and talk about "unlimited power!1!" and -- according to Leeland Chee -- I'd be just as legitimate as the new ******* Sith.

Krayt was deemed by Nihilus, Bane, and that other dude to be a pretender Sith.

Cade Skywalker's power is beginning to scare me a little. He's rather unhinged...

There's currently no real Star Wars hype going on. The most recent hype we've had from the Legacy comics wore off quickly, and we only get one LOTF book at a time, so there's no real "z0mg Star Warz!1" going around.
