When it comes to fetuses, Conservatives couldn't be more gung-ho about protecting them but when it comes to women or foreigners they don't give two shits about their well-being.Makes sense.
Fetuses don't have working brains. Anything without a working brain isn't a person.
And there's the matter that there's serious health risks involved in pregnancy.... you can't be required to donate an organ, why would someone be required to take a major risk, and certain health effects even if things are 100% successful, for another person, let alone a not-person?
And you give protections to make sure two things- One, you really *have* the rapists and murders and not some poor smuck in the wrong place at the wrong time while the real one runs free, and two, to prevent reoccurrences. Oh, and three, revenge doesn't really accomplish anything, rehabilitation does. The countries with the lowest occurrence of both focus on rehabilitation in their system.

Says who?
Not to mention what constitutes a "working brain"?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not pro-life or anything. I'm pretty much impartial to the entire abortion debate. Just curious how you can state something like this so definitively.

You quoted the wrong person, I think.
And while my post was mostly tongue-in-cheek to illuminate Neph's strawman, you're never going to sell me on the simultaneous moral acceptability of terminating pregnancies and moral failure of the death penalty. The notion that the life of a convicted murderer or rapist has more inherent value than the unborn is horrific and untenable, in my opinion.
My issue has less to do with abortion than it does the notion that abortion is morally A-okay, but executing a serial rapist or whatever constitutes epic injustice.
It's a grotesque worldview that I've never been able to wrap my head around despite years of interest and study of philosophy and political science.
Dude I said fvck them, I'm just explaining the concept to you. Up to a certain point fetuses haven't developed consciousness to the extent that they can be called a person. They are just lumps of matter. However, criminals are actual people with thoughts and shit and thus their lives have inherent worth and should be preserved.
Yeah, there's no question that the death penalty as it exists in the USA is exceptionally flawed. And I'm not necessarily defending or protesting abortion or the death penalty. My issue comes from what I perceive to be a staggering hypocrisy when one defends the killing of the unborn and protests the killing of the lowest society has to offer.
