350 years are a lot of time in terms of plant growth. They also don't glass the entire surface of Yavin 4. The wall of light causes some kind of firestorm to break out and consume most of the jungle close to Kun's main temple. Yet I also don't get why some Massassi are still alive on the planet.

You seem to suffer from the illusion that you're more than cheap entertainment for anybody engaging you in this place. This is not the case. You're just a laughing stock that is easily summoned, used and finally ignored, once people grow tired of him. At least, you seem to enjoy your life as court jester.
