You can be DS without acting as an idiot. It's pretty easy to act like a cool person to allies while ****ing hating the Sith. Also the last scene where Satele denies making you a Master is very similar to the RotS scene with Anakin.

The majority are, but you can have way more fun being an Anakin-esque figure. Being cruel and ruthless to your enemies, but being all nice and good to your friends is way better than going all dark or all light. It's sorta like a mid-point to make the storyline better.
