I've always wondered. If Anakin defeated Obi-Wan and didn't get mutilated into Suit Vader, did Palpatine expect Anakin to surpass and replace him? Is that something Palpatine wanted?

That is what he says to Yoda in RotS. But there's other sources where he claims he doesn't want to be surpassed or succeeded.

In canon, yes. He wanted a successor. In legends, no. He wanted a pawn.

I've always found it strange that Palpatine (or every master in the Rule of 2) wanted the apprentice to grow more powerful, as that would obviously lead to the Master's immediate death.

I was joking. Half the forum hates me for one stupid reason or another.

I think you're kinda derisive towards people for no apparent reason. Like against (present) me when I first joined.

Oddly enough, Carthage and DMB haven't united in their KotORII hate.

I don't actually hate anyone, it just happens that Syn is a worthless human being and it pains me that we use resources to prolong his wretched life.

He's gonna be a teacher of little kids. 🙂
