I was actually impressed they had the balls to use a different director for each film of the trilogy. Oh well

He does, TFA was far more than a RotJ sequel. For us, fans, yeah but for the general public? No, he had to create a movie that was the beginning of a new trilogy that could be part of the center of a new era of Star Wars.

Then he should have done that rather than remake ANH.
