Nazzy's Mexican Adventure!
So, if anyone was wondering where I was for the last week, which I doubt you were because I’m hardly ever on anyway, I was in Mexico! Actually, I was in Mexico for about four hours, the rest of the time I was on the Carnival M/S Ecstasy. 😱
But, before even boarding the ship, was the daunting twenty-five hour bus ride with fifty other freshmen idiots. No, wait. We’re sophomores! Awesome!
So, about an hour and a half after taking my German final, I got on the bus with all my documents, my carry-on, and a pillow and blanket since we would be sleeping on the bus. So, I boarded with my friend Sara, but there were no seats left for two people. There was an empty seat next to gay, drenched in boogers and sweat, Michael, and one next to freaky Xbox boy, John. So, I sat next to Mike, and Sara had to sit next to John, because no one would move, and the chaperones, who had a whole row of chairs reserved for their personal luggage, didn’t really care that I would have to endure a full day of being forced to look at pictures of Michael and his boyfriend making out.
So, eventually someone moved an me and Sara got to sit next to each other, which afterwards I kind of wished I had had to sit next to Mike.
Well, we started moving out of the school parking lot, and everything was good until we got on the interstate when Sara started talking about how much she is going to miss her siblings and started pretty much being Sara. I decided that she had too good of a relationship with her sisters, but that didn’t really matter because now she was going to start talking about Philip. Philip was a senior she has been friends with since seventh grade, who had just graduated. Philip was going in to the seminary, but Sara was convinced that he really liked her. I honestly don’t care about her problems with all the guys she imagines like her, but I still have to be nice to her because I was going to have to share a cabin with this girl for the next four days.
About four or five hours later we got tired of talking to each other and we put on our headphones, stopped at a rest stop, and were somewhere in Nebraska.
Another four hours and we stopped for an hour in Missouri to eat. There was a McDonalds, where most everyone was going, but there was also a Waffle House across the street, and I hadn’t had Waffle House in about two years, and I was dieing for a hash brown. So, we went into McDonalds, and I got an ice cream cone and called my mom to see if I had passed school. I did, A’s in every class. 😊
So I convinced Sara to run across the interstate with me to go get a hash brown to-go. I ate it on the bus, and I thought I had died and gone to Heaven.
Well, we sat on the parked bus for 40 minutes until Smitty, the band director came on and told us that Bus #2 had broken air brakes and we had to stay here until they were fixed.
An hour later some of us were worried that we would be late for the boat.
Four and a half hours later in a gas station parking lot in Platte, Missouri, we were certain that the ship wasn’t going to wait for us and that we would be hanging out in Galveston, Taxes for the next four days. That, or we would just ride right back to South Dakota and have wasted $600.
We got back on the bus around midnight and high-tailed it through the rest of Missouri and Oklahoma.
I was trying really hard to go to sleep in my chair, but it just wasn’t working. The person in the seat in front of me had laid down the aisle and passed out, so I decided to try that. Besides, I think the reason I wasn’t sleeping was because one of the chaperones behind me kept kicking me in the back every ten minutes, and I was about to reach back there at slap her.
But once I got down on the floor, the chaperones, who had been b*tching to everyone to shut up and go to sleep, started talking about trail mix and how Ms. Richards, the evil lady who was kicking me, was a pickier eater than their kids because she was picking the raisins out of her bag of trail mix. I went to sleep around 4:00am. They woke me up a 7:00am to stop and eat breakfast. I went to the Super Save Grocery and bought a giant Pixie Stick and some Vault, because I needed some serious sugar and caffeine if I was going to be awake to go through Customs.
