ROTS Anakin runs the gaunlet

In all honesty, ROTJ Luke is supposed to be an exceptional duelist. The sheer stupidity of his fighting abilities is simply that the 70s and 80s hardly had anything close to the choreography and stunt work that we have today.

I recall Luke doing only a single backflip in ROTJ. How many has everyone else done in the PT? Dozens. Dozens.

Point moot.

ROTJ Luke is supposed to be an outstanding duelist for Jedi standards. Am I saying he's on Count Dooku's or Yoda's level at this time? Nope.

I'm saying he is supposed to be portrayed as a highly skilled duelist, especially considering he's not had much training and the choreography sucked.

Before "DARTHHHHHHHHHH", he isn't half bad. He even duels better than some Jedi on Geonosis.

And he deflected a lot better than Coleman Trebor, a Jedi council member.

Anyways, I can't wait for the animated films to make Vader, Kenobi and Luke look like dueling gods. That should end this PT duelist > OT duelist nonsense.

I'm sorry, but that's just not right. Lucas said in the Feel the Force documentary that the reason for the style of fighting being so different, was that in the OT the only people doing so were an old man, someone who was half machine, and a boy who had very little training, compared to the PT where we were seeing fully trained Jedi in their prime.
Also, if I recal, a professional swordsman wore Vader's armor for the duelling scenes in ESB and RotJ, so saying that the skills weren't available back then is bull. See my original points for an accurate view of Luke's 'skill' as a duellist.
