The teaser and theatrical trailers for this movie PwN and until it's seen, nobody can say that it looks anything other than bloody fantastic.

my 'hate' is based on movie trends. that being idiot writers/directors who take a great story and throw their own spin on it as per their 'vision'. that combined with the fact that its going to be a big "buy a chevy/join the army" commercial...so it seems. i just smell suck. i cant help it. ill give it a chance, but im not going to be the least bit surprised if and when it sucks ass.

Well for one, I agree on THAT front.
I hate it when film makers say shit like "We wanted to make it appeal to people who...", well...no. Just make it appeal to people you know will see it. The man's talking about "realism", in a movie about transforming robots from space. If they didn't want Bumblebee to look old, they could have used the new VW bug, but there was a lot of issues regarding the companies no longer wanting to be attached with such violent products.
That's why VW and Porsche don't have toys in the Alternators range.
It's difficult because some characters were defined by their vehicle, or at least remembered for, where as some were for character. If Prime was a plane, I could understand the bitching, but Starscream being an F-22 instead of an F-15 really doesn't bother me.
There were commercials over here for cars that actually had transforming robots in, and they looked AMAZING, but I'll wait and see before passing judgement.
One thing I really, really don't understand is like...why Frank Welker isn't Megatron. THAT makes zero sense. I can take Jazz being a Solstice, I can take Megatron being a stealth bomber and I can take Bumblebee being a Chevy, but Megatron not being voice by Welker, when Cullen is doing Prime...that's...nah.
Especially when you consider he auditioned and was deemed good enough to voice Megatron for the game (Go watch the Cullen/Welker mini interview on YouTube, you hear the voices at the end.).

its a tough call with welker. imho his voice sounded off...like he spent 20 years chain smoking phillies blunts. but...how the hell did they end up with agent smith? unless weaving has some awesome villain voice up his sleeve, its going to be 'V is for Very crappy'.
and as far as licensing issues with auto companies, dont buy that story. i mean, perhaps VW backed out, but they're not the only compact car. same for jazz. he could have been a lamborgini, ferrari, bugatti, etc. something WORTHY, as opposed to a 160hp chick car. fukin hell if bay just had to spread his ass for chevy, then why isnt jazz a corvette? its idiocy like this that sets off the 'suck alarms' imho
that plus...again...its a big chevy/army commercial which sickens me.
