Niiiiiice. And thanks stickman618.

Bumblebee

Jazz

*Sniffs* I've only seen the movie once, but hey, I have the soundtrack, so that should tie me over until the DVD hits the shelves. However, they soooo could have chosen a better Transformers theme song to put on it... at least in my opinion.

Mana

Great movie indeed. Watched it today and really enjoyed it.

I wanted to take a ride in Bumblebee, but his entire area was locked down and open only to photos. Taking a ride inside Ironhide was pretty sweet though, he has cool lookin' Autobot symbol on the dashboard above his five-disc cd changer.

they need to sell autobot versions of all those cars. limited editions... how sweet would that be... complete with emblems and stuff. i actually hate ford, but i wouldn't mind driving barricade around... droolio

GMC has the movie's modified GMC Topkick (IRONHIDE) in production, that means you can buy him lol, like smokestacks, 40' offroad wheels, all that

Bumblebee

2nd generation chevy camaro
giant, sentient robot
becomes the 5th generation chevy camaro

not bad for $4,000

I heard they were going to release GMC autos, but not like you're thinking with Autobot symbols and whatnot.

The movie seemed to jump the line alot between enjoyable and simply awful. Some of those lines...I would have thought I was watching one of the new Star Wars movies. Predictable is good when done well, but here it just served as ammunition for any criticism I would have.

Someone really should have advised Michael Bay to change his music selection. The operatic score worked, the cliche "metal" (don't even know what that is these days) when it kicked in was disheartening. It just seemed to boil the action down to eye candy, abandoning any plot or character interaction.

Shia LeB(whatever), despite my initial misgivings and the fact I still find him immensely annoying, did carry the film well. Maybe he'll turn out a decent actor in the end.

On a geekier level, where was Hot Rod and Ultramagnus?

They weren't in the movie, obviously. Those characters have too much back story to include when you're just trying to get the general story off the ground.

Shia LeBouf was funny but I didn't pay to see Shia featuring Transformers, which is what it was. I loved it, but it needs the robots to be the stars.

Well said.

Bay wanted to limit the fights to keep his low, low budget of $150million

but now that it was such a hit, they could double their budget, or maybe even higher for more action scenes in the next one

Man that mass shifting issue is annoying.

On one hand Bay reckons thier is no Mass shifting and hence thats why we don't get Soundwave et all... Cause the mass shift in turning a little cassette player into a 40ft alien robot....

And on the other... A mass-shifting allspark!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come ON! Witwicky'd NEVER have been able to lift that thing.
A metallic mass of that size compacted down to an object the size of a football.....?

Shit, even Prime'd probably have a job with that...!

Jeez. Talk about a contradiction... 🙁

Ergo: The mass shifting was used as an excuse not to feature a G1 design that Bay couldn't get paid for/claim ownership of/claim credit for.

the allspark is pure energy, hence the energy was compressed, not the mass.

while the transformers have physical moving parts, which can't just disappear into the other parts

Why is the "backstory" necessary though?

If it was pure energy, then how could it be held..? It wouldn't be solid like it clearly was..
And why was it shown to transform in a lower vibrational state IE Slow vibrating solid heavy matter/energy and not just desolidify or something and simply shrink...?

All matter is energy. And anything with mass is matter. So arent the energy changes gonna corespond with the mass changes...?

And even if there was a difference... This would only introduce a reason for mass shifting TFs. Something that Bay didn't want. 🙄

The git. 😖hifty:

maybe it's a really old artifact, and nobody understands, or can even comprehend its true nature

not me, not you, not anybody

Mass shifting never bothered me, I was never that picky when it comes to topics like that, so I just paid no mind to it.

Well it only bothers me because Bay opened that can of worms when he used it as an excuse not to feature a great character, when we all know that he can't make money for himself by using Marvel's designs and that "money over art" is the prime motivator for him..

"maybe it's a really old artifact, and nobody understands, or can even comprehend its true nature"

Well, that would be mightily arrogant of Bay to assume that.
I HATE filmmakers that treat their audiences like cretins.
He should give the audience some credit.

Besides. Even the widest fantasy has to have some kind of anchoring reality. And he flouts his/the scriptwriter's own rules. 🙁

The allsparks a "MacGuffin", it's really just a means to an end. It's hardly rare in Hollywood, don't get the shits over it.
